the axel is only bent on the left side
its a two wheel hauling trailer like 8 feet wide or so
so when im hauling shit the wheel is always at slight angle and it wears out the tired much much faster than the other side
the other side is fine it is perfectly straight
now if i were to get it sitting on a jack and then hit the fuck out of it on the tip of the axel to bend it would that work? or is this a bad idea and i should get it done at a mechanic
how much would i be looking to spend
some asshole about 3 years ago did a hit and run on my going down a narrow street. they were speeding like fuck and i was over as far as i could , i winced as they came forward because i thought they were gonna hit me upfront but they hit my hauling trailer it bent that wheel about 15-20 degrees and it tore the fuck out of there old pickup as they sped off with there tire grinding on the body of there truck
-
mechanic will prolly heat it up and straighten it
-
It is probably just the hub, take it apart and figure out wtf is going. If the axle is truly bent then its best to replace it considering a shitty trailer axle with no brakes on it is only $100 or so.

I bet the driver had too much heme iron in his diet.
Johnny Falcon, has there ever been any studies linking heme iron with bad driving abilities? Perhaps heme iron affects one's concentration.
What do you think?

I don't think you'll ever be able to bend it back. You can get the rear axle from some front wheel drive van or something to replace it.
-
If it's the hub and it can be replaced do that but if the axel is bent then it's ruined you'll have to get another which could prove costly. One option would be to go to a junkyard and get the rear end from an old car strip out the gears and boom you have a new axel for about fifty bucks

yea johnny... put it up on some jacks and take a sledge hammer to it and eyeball it. it's not like there's any power going to the wheels, so if you're off a couple inches it won't matter. and if you hit it too hard and bend it too far, just hit the other wheel in the same direction so they're both like this " /---/ " it'll drive straight. trust me. i'm lookin out for you. save your $120 for the new axle they'll try to sell you.
oh, and videotape it and put it on youtube so we can see what you did and give you tips if it's bent too far and what-not. trust me.

thanks to everyone for your help btw

Most likely a bondo/primer job of peace. You could probably just replace the hub for almost nothing. If that doesnt work tale it to a machinist.

on a side note.... about a week ago i'm driving to the gym on the freeway and I pass some dip shit in a silver f150 with a trailer on back swerving back and forth.. I look in my rearview and see his serves getting worse and worse like he's freakin drifting so I slow down to watch.. the shoulder was/is blocked off with concrete dividers due to construction in that area.. widening the freeway or building an offramp or something....... and sure enough whip whip wam! into the concrete divider he goes they whips back and whips back into it and jumps the divider and his trailer breaks off and goes tumbling side over side on the freeway while his truck flips end over end in the dust where the shoulder should be.... then a second later WAM! a semi his the trailor and the thing goes spinning..... by that time all the cars back behind me were slowing down and I was in a hurry and kept on my way. .
don't see that every day. lol

Wack away at it with a hickory still. It'll straighten right out.

whats up with people in first world countries living in trailers?

This. Identify the problem. Fix the problem. Jesus Christ, Falcon.

If you've been using it for 3 years like that (???) change the tire again and move on with life.
