i know what it takes to build a 1000+hp daily driver...keep in mind that nhra top fuel dragsters and funny cars run about 6000hp and they run 0-300+ in under 4 seconds...
this vaporcar bullshit is going to be shelved up there with genpets

I wonder what a funny car or a top fuel rail car could do on the Bonneville salt flats with the right gearing and miles of road? If they can hit 300 plus in a quarter mile what would happen if they had 2 plus miles to run and the right gearing? Could they hit over 400 or would the resulting wind make these dragster to dangerous to drive?

i dont know if they could make a transmission, or clutchpack system that could sustain the heat and pressure for over 2 miles...

At the Dubai Autoshow for the past few years there have been these Vaporware cars that car million dollar price tags and supposedly go 275 and up, and have diamond encrusted ______.
Yet, they never get built.
Since that area is flushed with money, they want to prove that they can build a supercar---that can out do anything on the road---without massive engineering, testing etc. Just need a person to fork over 1 million dollars for something that doesn't exist, and never will.
5,000 hp, lack of cooling, or talk of the engine specs, transmission, and a 1.8 0-60 time on what looks like spec tires and brakes, yeah ok.

I understand what you are saying but they are exploding off the line in drag races. With miles of road they could gradually get to 200 then 300 and above. They might even need just two gears. I'm not a drag race guy but I assume they don't run a coolant system on the car. I guess they would need one for the Bonneville speed pass.

lol - at 1:00 in the video - the guy cleaning it touches a bit of plastic on the hood & it wobbles around. He has to move it back in place.
That car would fall apart at 100kmh. Flimsy piece of crap.

This wouldn't be possible without turbine power, utter bullshit. As was said nothing drivable would ever hold up at those speeds, especially with a piston engine.
They might as well of just said a million horsepower and 900mph. ::)

The front is all mismatched, and looks like it was styled after the Lanborghini Veneno came out, with Veneno, Enzo, and LaFerrari and the front wiper blade from a 90s Mercedes.

I don't believe it until I see it perform. But the truth is these guys are loaded and can get anything built they want.
Remember the Mercedes built car that could go faster than a mclaren f1 or even bugatti back in the 90s for one of the gulf states (was it emirate or qatar i dont remember) recently sold. Looked amazing too.

That was a Lotec, and the car has NEVER been confirmed to go faster than a Mclaren F1 or Bugatti. It was a "hypothetical top speed", as in vapor....The car was sitting in a North Carolina dealership for a few years.
The fact is, there is a lot engineering and testing involved in making a car to not just go faster than Bugatti, but also to maintain high speeds---the aero, engine, all the systems...that is why the Bugatti costs so much---everything is Engineered to withstand high speeds with the driver enveloped in luxury.

Yes, I know of the car...it's a Lotec, not a car BY Mercedes Benz, it is powered by Mercedes. It was in an auction along with a Mercedes AMG CLK- GTR roaster, and a 300 SL.
Just because it was built based on a Le Mans car does not mean it will do 268. There is the Aero this has to be tested in the REAL WORLD...this car NEVER did 268. And possibly NEVER will.
