Title: Any sense in single set "finishing" lifts?

Dorian-style cable lateral drop sets ... cross-overs, etc.?

If so, year-round or detail-type "pre-contest" cycling only?

it's always good to finish off on machines to put some blood in the muscle.

One set, though? Even with the added intensity (forced, drop, neg, r/pause, etc.), you think one's enough?

'Cause I kinda like the idea.

If you're just using the exercise to push blood into the muscle. I'm pretty sure Arnold mentions a "finishing" lift a lot in his encyclopedia.
