Title: Adults who attend Karate class have issues
Post by: ganero76 on November 16, 2013, 11:28:57 AM
Anybody over the age of 17 who sign up for the dojo have some serious mental problems. What's up with these 30 and 40 somethings who take Karate? Don't they know dojos are glorified day care centers?

Maybe to keep fit rather than beat people up?

Martial arts, if taken seriously, is actually quite the healthy and interesting lifestyle. A lot better than bodybuilding.

In Japan, Okinawa, China, etc, they take that shit deadly serious. Its a way of life.

So whats better:

A) being 30 or 40, overweight, out of shape, and depressed.

OR

B) Maybe take up the martial arts, get in shape, learn self-discipline, etc.

Everyone's a critic  ::) ::)

I like it how the average joe says yeah, i take martial arts cause if someone ever insults or threatens me im going to tell him i dont want any troubles and then if he attacks me im going to dominate him and make "justice" !

Lol 9 times out 10 they keep shuting their mouth, getting harassed just like they were in the past as long as the bully/thug is bigger than them, and one day they find someone who is smaller, drunk, and finally practice some shit move on him and feel like they have finally become men. Until they re secure enough to try that shit on a real oponent, get their asses whooped and then suddenly convert to a peaceful religion or "decide" to focus on something else, like building pyramids with matches.

To be honnest it's only useful to repel a single aggressor but you also better know how to run fast, and for people who work in police, security or military. For most people yeah, it's just a joke. I love the asian or white/black "masters" (bullshiters) , they always make me laugh , they re just running a business and all businesses are based on someone else naivety. Also what is the use of knowing a martial art in a society where physical violence is banned. It is also useless in no go zones, ghettos etc where real thugs , maffia members have guns and knives.

Its because the log on gets banned here rather than the person.
We have someone here who used racist insults and got his log on banned, hell he even admitted it was his log on.

He's still here posting under another account????
Go figure.

It does attract a lot of weirdos.  I remember in hs some nerd taking it for awhile as he was picked on a lot.  One day a bully was picking on him, he took some karate stance and the bully thrashed him.   :-\

I took Kendo lessons as an adult knowing full well the odds of engaging in a sword fight were virtually zero.

This sounds funny but I've seen it myself.  Had a friend named Loyd who was big into karate growing up.  He was very short but very muscular.  In high school some guy started shit with him in the hallway and he immediately went into the horse stance. The other guy punched him in the face.

It was pretty much the same scenario.  Guys name was Hal.  Tough to have in a hillbilly town. Pretty boy with fashion sense.  Not gay that I know of.  He was picked on constantly.  Probably has a yacht and model wife now.  Haha

Seriously, sounds like the exact same guy. In high school he dressed in slacks and button down shirts.  Except for his heights he was a blonde blue eyed A.r.y.a.n type.  Loyd could pull pretty hot chicks though.  Saw him a few years back and he was with a hot Latina. He won several trophies in sport karate and I think that gave him a false sense of his own fighting prowess.  He was a pretty nice guy though.

let's not forget GSP...

But karate is boring. Kata's are useless and all the stupid push ups and sit ups they make you do are a total waste of time.

Would take someone high level, pay him for small group classes, that would advance nicely.
