Dex needs to write a tell all book so we can figure out how he has been able to remain a competitive pro bodybuilder for almost 15 years. After reading all thes threads on GB about needing to take 7 grams of this...cocktailed with 1 gram of that, and several hundred mgs of blah and 40iu of shit weekly, he has to have the genetics of Zeus/constitution of a stallion or just pretty damn lucky.
...then again he is a bodybuilder, so he'd probably give a Levrone or Lee Priest spin on it, just so he can impress the masses. :-\

key is consistency and don't overdo it,you can't just pull a levrone and tell everyone you will be back on top again,it's just impossible.

Thing about Dex is compared to let's say a Phil, Kai, jay and even Wolfe Dex never played the size game, he is relatively small compared to all of those guys and his improvements he made were year after year, not like a Phil and Kai who completely blew up in just a few yrs. Ronnie to from 2002 to 03 and 04. That's very taxing on the body
Dex relied on his strengths which was his conditioning. That was the key to his success, basically a Shawn ray in some ways but they actually rewarded him. Dex can't be more than 225.

IMO Dex is the best bodybuilder out there. Granted he does not have multiple "O's" under his belt but (1) Mr O, multiple Arnold's, Master's O and a host of other wins. Let's not forget, he entered the Pro's as a Bantam weight, put on maybe 60-70lbs over his career and has kept very aesthetic lines.

If I had to choose which modern-day bodybuilder I'd prefer to look like, it's Dex. Perfect physique.

This. Dexter is short, has genetically a great strucutre and has probably no problems to get in shape (doesn't have to go crazy on diuretics etc), he doesn't need a lotta bodyweight to impress (dude's basically a middle-weight).
Never made huge weight gains, never blew up in the Off-Season, never lifted heavy (a lotta machine work etc). I guess at 44 your body thanks you for that.
Also he's always consistent (guess at such a low body-weight it's easier to get on stage in shape). He didn't make any improvements for years (almost decades lol), but when someone else messes up he's there to sneak in with his standard package.

I agree with this whole heartedly. I grew up around some natural freaks of nature, so I had to accept at a young age that there are many others with better genetics than myself. But some guys here were making compelling arguments about having to inject liters of liquid good stuff over the course of months just to achieve 230lbs w/abs... All I can do is read up on it since I have no experience with the matter...any way Dex is doing well with what he's got, and to me, doing it for this long and not being a pro-BB casualty, is amazing.

In terms of modern bbing I would say lower than jay, Phil, Kai, etc... Most likely the Shawn ray approach
Remember Dex started out as a bantam , weighed 130, prob around there if he was truly natural and shredded. Gained almost 100 Ibs in the course of his career

Damn,Dexter will compete in any show to make a buck. You can tell that he is yearning so badly to be like Jay and Ronnie in terms of money. I mean, a former Mr. Olympia competing in a Tijuana show. You would never catch Coleman or Cutler in one of these shows. Dexter looking for any pay day, and not giving his body a break.

Dexter's Line can be called "Shredded" or "Shredded Beef"...
Both of those can pictured either a knife going thru beef or cutting something...
The man has made a legacy of consistently coming in shape and condition.
If Flex had that consistency, he'd probably have 5 Arnolds and a Sandow or two. If Melvin Anthony was in the shape Dex was at his worst, he'd have a Arnold or two and be a consistent top 4 finisher at the O.
When Dex retires, he'd should garner a ton of respect.

Dexters body doesn't seem to need a break. He's never had a horrible rebound unlike most other bodybuilders. I don't think bodybuilding/dieting is as tough for Dexter as it is for others competitors. He probably takes genetic freak to the next level. He supposedly didn't do cardio for years.
I don't think he cares about Jays or Ronnies financial situations. He does what he does because he wants to. However I think he is better off than most think, and just doesn't flaunt it the way Phil or Jay does. He keeps himself more low key.
He's one of the best bodybuilders ever. The one word to describe him is consistent. He's smart to compete in these small fry shows. They are pretty much just handing over the money. And why not.....if bodybuilding comes easy to him he may as well take advantage of that and take the money.

I remember when the O was coming up and people would always count him out and I said he'll place top 5 with many disagreeing. I mean come on the man just won his 4th Arnold classic earlier this yr and people still aren't convinced!

I am amused by the fact that even Dexter disrespects himself now. In his interview, he said that he saw no other "big" bodybuilders were participating, and that because of that (and the grace of God) he won. Way to go Dexter... way to go...
