And that's just the type of movie in which Jim Carrey likes to shoehorn himself. >:(

Hollywood actually has more than enough ideas, so many that it would be impossible to even read every screenplay that comes to the studios. They know morons will eat this shit up. Its a safe investment for them.

With all the novels, graphic novels, comicbooks, historical figures with steamy, and violent pasts, they could be raking in far more money. They have gotten lazy...it seems like the better films are being put out by other nations.
For instance, on of the best drug films is City of God, from Brazil, and one of the best cop films is Elite Squad from Brazil about the Brazilian Bope police.
One of the best animated films of 2010 was a Spanish movie called Chico y Rita.
-
Almost every 2nd Hollywood film is re-version of Euro original.
- Homeland cheap copy of Israels "Prisoners of War" (& more sex)
- True Lies - French copy
- Home Alone - French too
- Day of the Jackal - Jackal ,French again
- Magnificent 7 - 7 Samurais

The comic book movies and movies of that ilk are the reason why Hollywood stagnates. Spielberg and Lucas believe that these type of movies will eventually shutdown Hollywood altogether in a chain reaction when the "Blockbusters" fail.

“They’re going for the gold,” said Lucas of the studios. “But that isn’t going to work forever. And as a result they’re getting narrower and narrower in their focus. People are going to get tired of it. They’re not going to know how to do anything else.”
“There’s eventually going to be a big meltdown,” Spielberg said. “There’s going to be an implosion where three or four or maybe even a half-dozen of these mega-budgeted movies go crashing into the ground and that’s going to change the paradigm again.”
Lucas predicted that after that meltdown, “You’re going to end up with fewer theaters, bigger theaters with a lot of nice things. Going to the movies will cost 50 bucks or 100 or 150 bucks, like what Broadway costs today, or a football game. It’ll be an expensive thing. … (The movies) will sit in the theaters for a year, like a Broadway show does. That will be called the ‘movie’ business.”

Ah, see they mine the well known comic books. Not Elephantmen, Not Elfquest, not Fables (which is very unique take on the Fables of yore), Grendel, not focusing on villains like Venom, Carnage, Deathstroke...
And they need to stop effing around with the Parker series.
Then you have various literary works that can be made into movies. For instance
On A Pale Horse, and that series.
Historical figures like Marcus Garvey and Swamp Fox (Disney had a series, but to date I don't think that there has been a big studio backing a movie).
Keep in mind, Spielberg has Falling Skies going for 3 seasons, he had a thing about Aliens, and had a prime time (from what I remember) cartoon about Aliens, and hybrids.
Lucas? The whole Star Wars genre is based on Medival Knights, etc.

It doesn't help that you have mindless families who ritually flock to the theaters every weekend regardless of what's out and if it's a good flick or not. Just remake an old movie, throw a couple of stars in it, and the morons will eat it up even if it's extremely mediocre.

Exactly...I waiting for the Ghostbusters remake, the Jaws remake, the Bullitt remake,
The Cannonball Run remake, etc

hahaa.
I want a remŕke of the Rocky series man.
-
Even the original "It's a Wonderful Life" borrowed heavily from Dicken's 1843 A Christmas Carol.

Quite True...

True. They only want safe investments. The movie might have low ticket sales but it's all about the return so they keep the production budget low, etc.
What's that movie with Leandro Dicaprio about the dream world? I think that was said to be Hollywood's riskiest investment project ever. Read some article that said exactly what you said about the ideas but it's about the safe investment - what people are used to seeing, can relate to, etc.

This is such a literal answer I really have to wonder if your autistic.

You might wanna factor in the foreign market, it's the biggest problem in hollywood. They barely speak english meaning dialogue is a waste of time, have too many kids so only wanna see childish stuff.
Theres a long list of movies that have been propped up by the foreign market, which would of crashed and burn in a anglophone market.
-
City of God was an awesome movie.
-
They're making a Gremlins remake too..
-
they make a remake of ronnie colemans unbelieveable with wesley snipes

LOL

I don't think they run out of ideas, its just that the Hollywood Hierarchy sticks to the mind control doom and gloom agenda as a whole...For every positive uplifting movie they put out, there needs to be 33 soul crushing movies at any given time...
-

They need to stop touching the classic 80s movies.
-
When is Deathblow coming out?

Hopefully soon. I plan on bootlegging it to make some extra scratch. I'm still trying to move 5,000 copies of Chunnel.

How bout Breakfast Club? They could update it with a pregnancy, gang rape and shooting the vice principal for stepping his new kicks.
-
Zimmerman will star as paul kersy in a modern day remake of Deathwish

I might send my buddy, Brody. He's a fellow getbigger/tough guy. He even carries a gun to the theaters ever since that shooting occurred in Aurora.

I honestly think TV is far better than the movies Hollywood puts out.

That's quite the feedbag he's got there.

Movies are made, and exist, to make money.
There is no other reason. (Save for low budget, indy films made by peeps trying to make a name for themselves in the biz.)
It's much cheaper, and safer, for Hollywood to invest their millions on tried and true ideas, than to spend 100+ million on something new.
That's why you have so many sequels and reboots.
There are a lot of kick ass screenplays out there, better than anything you've seen in ten years, that will never see the light of day b/c they aren't established intellectual property. And that's sad. I hope it changes.
-
That's quite the feedbag he's got there.
It's for all of us. Is there a problem?

The problem for Hollywood is that no one over 30 wants to go to a movie theatre. However, the theatre model still works for the 25 and under crowd as they just want to get out of the house.
The logical thing for Hollywood to do is to offer first run movies, that appeal to an older crowd, on PPV, but change is almost impossible for such a cartelized, unionized industry.
So, essentially, the over 30 movie viewers have been jettisoned and all you get from Hollywood are super hero monstrosities that appeal to kids.
