Wow. Father seemed reasonable to me. I think I'd be even more upset than he was if I showed up to school to pick up my kids and they wouldn't release my children to me.

thats horrific police work
i hope that guy gets a big pay out
he has basically arrested him for having a different point of view
-
How in the fuck does this asshole have a job? I am not a hater of cops, as they serve a purpose, but what the fuck was this guys problem? He should be terminated immediately.

Maybe that fat-ass school cop should take a walk home sometime. This is ridiculous!
USA! USA! USA! :-X
-
Also, is it just me or does the guy kind of look and really sound like Zach Galifianakis from 'The Campaign'?
-
The reason the cop will keep his job is the same reason this video will be watched by millions but the Hierarchy who runs Youtube will only show it having a couple hundred views so that it doesn't go viral...

Disgusting. I hope he gets a huge pay out.

Wait, what?
-
Obviously the school resource officer and the administration are morons.
-
The old fat cop, dipshit cop routine.

Exactly and he began flipping out for no reason!? The father was signing a simple release which would allow him to take his kids. He was acting in a completely reasonable manner!
Imagine how that fat ass officer deals with kids!
-
I don't know man. If I was picking up my kids and some fat "cop" tried to cuff me I would knock him the fuck out.

That father definitely showed restraint! He was no small twink either!

hahah stfu dumbass
You have to pussout infront of the cops and do what they say . unless you think you can plan on killing them and getting away with it
it would suck to be in eithers posistion, the cop or the father. who has time for squabbiling over some dumb shit
-
so the state can kidnap your children now?
For me - I go to pick my kids up from school doesn't matter if I'm walking, driving, riding a motorbike or even a bicycle. I'm the parent, they are my kids, they go with me when I say, how I say. End of story.
Mind you - I live in a free country.

That's the way it was with my daughter and exactly why this bothered me so much.

Absolutely! Sign a fucking release to take my children?

The owner of the race engine school in Houston that I attended (hotheaded big, tall, older texan type) got out of his truck and chased a cop around the truck trying to beat the cops ass after the cop made a bunch of smart ass dick remarks at him.... Although his son-in-law was one of the head judges in Houston.... so he threatened to beat the cops ass, have the cop fired, AND gloated that he wouldn't spend any time in jail.
It was pretty funny... dude was 60 when it happened. He didn't win... he wound up in jail. But the cop didn't tase him no did he shoot him, so in Texas, I guess thats a win.
-
Wow. That dude showed restraint. I would have been flipping out if that jerkoff tried that sh*t when trying to pick up my kids.
But goes to show, it's smart to keep a cool head.
In the end, now that they have it on video, the father as a much stronger case of who the real asshole was in that situation.

Well he showed up looking as a fat ass, faking to be the mayor of Toronto.

Seems wrong to me, but there are two sides to every story.
However, some say the video doesn't tell the whole story. Donald Andrews, the director of Cumberland County Schools, told The Huffington Post the clip was edited to portray Howe in a more favorable light.
"In that situation, quite honestly, the officer that handled that showed quite a bit of restraint," he added.
Andrews said the school instituted the new policy as a safety precaution. He said officials were looking into working out the traffic issues.
“Previously, parents were coming out to pick up children, they were just getting out of cars and coming to school,” Andrews told HuffPost. “In this day in age, the PTO [parent teacher organization] was concerned that it was a safety issue, someone could come up and grab [any] kid.”
Andrews said the school is prepared to defend its actions in court.
“A lot of attention is being drawn because someone doesn’t want to follow rules and guidelines. I stand by the decision to [arrest Howe], we’ll get negative press but that’s OK if it's for the safety [and] well-being of our children,” he said.

Bullshit.
No crime was committed. Sure - the guy was not happy with school rules but a simple id check could have id'd him as a parent and got his kids to him.
Fuck "2 sides to every story" - they are his kids.

Of course Donald Andrews, the director of Cumberland County Schools, will have a different story. Let's see them release the "less favorable" clip and back up their policy where cars are backed up to the highway.

Hopefully a simple check would have also shown that he had custody of his kids and therefore the right to pick them up at school.
Having worked for a school district for 30 years, I know for a fact that sometimes non-custodial parents show up at school to literally kidnap their kids. I am not saying this was the case here, but unless you have experience with some of the crazy stuff parents do with regards to their kids, you can't know why school districts feel they have to take every precaution on behalf of the kids. If he had been a non-custodial parent and the school gave his kids to him, the school employees who allowed this and the school district would be open to a winnable lawsuit.

Oh I totally agree with you about crazy parents and they are worse than ever now!! It seems he was filling out the correct form and it went from that to arrest pretty quickly.

So let me get this straight. You defend the parents not being given their children back in case one of them is kidnapping their own child?
You do realize that the schools know who the legal guardians of the kids are, right? It's sort of a requirement of having kids in school - telling the school who the guardians are.
Without that they'd have no idea who to give the kids to anyway.
Weak defense of outrageous behavior....
-
Custody shit is tricky sometimes...
-
Easy answer: home school. Guy needs to get his kid out of that gubberment school quick...
:-\
-
Wait, what?
Look at how many views are on that video...Youtube manipulated the view count...That's what they do with videos that make the establishment look bad...The video because of a low view count will just basically disappear. And the cop will not have to really answer for anything...

I think this video has been uploaded from different sources. I saw one earlier on YT with a few million views

I realize that things like who has legal custody changes sometimes. A parent who was the legal guardian when the child enrolled, my not be the legal guardian a month later. It is a crazy world....that's all I am saying.
Look, I think the father in this case appears to have done nothing wrong. Judging from the video, it was the Sheriff (acting as a school cop) who was completely out of line. The fact that there is a school cop working at a primary school speaks volumes about how fucked up society is today.

Fat man in a tight shirt.

Your correct this was definitely from a different source.
-
What a fucking pig that cop was to arrest him and put handcuffs on him infront of all the kids (it was at the end of the day so i assume kids where going home). Cant be Fun for his kids to hear from the other kids that his father was arrested.

Having not been arrested in more than 50 years, I have no idea what protocol is with regards to handcuffs, but yeah, it seems totally uncalled for in this situation.

He was talking back so was a threat to the school. ::)

ok oldtimer, I'll bite. Its been 50 years since you were arrested, but what was last time you wore handcuffs ???
-

Talk's cheap. He was using a civil tone. Compared to him, some of the irate parents I saw at the school where I worked were totally bizerk and yet they didn't get arrested.

Ah, the setup question. I keep my sexual fantasies private, but I will share that being handcuffed is not one of them. I have issues; issues with claustrophobia and control issues. -Not the kind of person that is a good candidate for bondage.
The one time I was arrested, I honestly don't think I was handcuffed by the cops. Perhaps I was just compliant enough they didn't see the need to restrain me.

yeah k worked at a school to and that guy was as civil anyone can be under thqt situation. He wasnt yelling or calling the fat pig a fat pig. But i guess the cop coudnt take it to be wrong when the parent found a loop whole and signed the papers thst the kids could go home them self.
What if some parents only car broke down earlier that day and they didnt have a car to loan would the school and cop hold their kids until their car was fixed or what?

Such a simple thing was made so complex and that's seems to be the way of our dysfunctional society now. He signed the form, give him his kids and no harm to foul. This tuned into a stand your ground issue and I am still vexed by the cops reaction.

im shocked to, doin that infront of all the parents that waited outside and his kids could have seen theiir father being arrested or the kids friends....lucky him that his wife was filming it so everyone can see what really happend instead of listening to rumors made by parents that just saw him being put in a policecar
