A few years ago, Robert Durbin weighed around 215lbs, smoked 60 cigarettes a day and needed a cane to walk.
But with grandchildren on the way, the 64-year-old decided enough was enough and embarked on a gruelling fitness regime that would make any spritely young man break out in a cold sweat.
He has now lost more than 70lbs, trimmed 18 inches off his waist and is so strong he can even support himself horizontally while holding onto a pole.
The father-of-five, from Louisville, Kentucky, has certainly put in the hard yards for his new figure.
His rigorous training regime consists of a mile on his elliptical ski glider every morning followed by up to 1,800 abdominal exercises and then a further three hours in the gym.
He then repeats his ski glider and abdominal exercises before going to bed, it was reported by ABC News.
Having once been a 'two-plate person' every meal, he now eats five or six small portions every day and has cut out fried food from his diet.

when your balding like that his kidneys are functioning around 50 percent

How can this old guy do an hour of cardio + 1,800 reps of abdominals in the morning. 3 hours at the gym, and another round of cardio and 1,800 reps before bed.
What!!!???? Is he addicted to exercise?
I think its good for the old man. Gives him something to wake up to every morning.

The whole premise behind modern society is that each person looks after their own self interest. This is what's best for society. The alternative is something akin to communism, that hasn't proven to succesful. The world is beyond help, do you think all those billions going to the work each day are helping the world, they are simply complicit in the ever increasing degeneration of the planet. The world would be better of if people did nothing except take care of their basic needs, rather than what they do now.

Funny, he doesn't have thick muscles at all but his skin just screams hormone usage. Or is it just me?

The guy literally spends half of his day working out.
How long would it take to do 3,600 ab reps a day? Not counting 2 hours of cardio, and 3 hours at the gym.
Work ethic of peace.

Typical case of overcompensating. Apparently he likes extremes. He looks weird, his head's way too big compared to the rest. Midgets also have such awkward proportions

I agree that he exercises too much. Maybe that is what keeps him alive though?
Just like when old sports coaches die not long after they retire.
You need that passion.
