2014 Arnold Sports Festival
Rhoden, Martinez, Curry Highlight 2014 Arnold Classic Field
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Shawn Rhoden, Victor Martinez and Brandon Curry, who have each won an Arnold Classic international title in the past three years, lead a deep field of 13 men’s professional bodybuilders who will battle in the 2014 Arnold Classic, the Arnold Sports Festival announced today.
The Arnold Sports Festival and the IFBB Pro League today announced the invited athletes who will compete in the Arnold Classic, Arnold Classic 212, Fitness International, Figure International and Bikini International contests Feb. 28 & March 1 at the 2014 Arnold Sports Festival.
Rhoden, 2012 Arnold Classic Europe champ, and Martinez, who won the Arnold Classic in 2007 and the inaugural Arnold Classic Europe in 2011, will lead a field that also includes two-time Arnold Classic winner Branch Warren, Cedric MacMillan and Dennis Wolf. Curry won the inaugural Arnold Classic Brasil in April. Ben Pakulski, second in the Arnold Classic in 2013, and Toney Freeman, third last year, will also compete. Defending champ and four-time winner Dexter Jackson will not compete.
Flex Lewis, David Henry and Tricky Jackson headline a field of 10 in the first-ever Arnold Classic 212 contest. Arnold Classic 212 competitor Quincy Winklaar is the brother of Roelly Winklaar, who will compete in the Arnold Classic.
In the Fitness International, defending champion Tanji Johnson, Oksana Grishina, second in 2013, and Bethany Cisternino, third last year, headline a field of 15. Johnson, who won the Arnold Fitness Europe in 2011 and 2013, has won seven professional titles in the past 12 years. In the Figure International, defending champion Candice Keene and three-time winner Nicole Wilkins top the field of 17. Heather Dees, second in 2013, is also expected to challenge for the title. Wilkins, who won in 2010, 2011 and 2012, will try to win a record fourth title. Wilkins did not compete in Columbus in 2013.
India Paulino will try to become the first repeat winner of the Bikini International, which has had three champions in three years since it was founded in 2011. Nathalia Melo, second in 2013; Ashley Kaltwasser, Bikini Olympia winner in 2013 and a former Arnold Amateur champion; and Amanda Latona also highlight a field of 16. Anna Starodubtseva earned an automatic invite into the Bikini International after winning the overall bikini title at the 2013 Arnold Amateur IFBB/NPC Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships.
The Arnold Classic 212, Fitness International, and Figure International will be held on Friday, February 28. Prejudging will take place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and Finals will be at Veterans Memorial. Wolf should win easily.
I was thinking the same thing. Wolf's name is hiding near the bottom of the list. He could & should win that show.

no womens bodybuilding event.

no womens bodybuilding event.
No, it was replaced with the Mens BB 212lb category.
Looks like it is going to be a cool lineup and event.
See you there.
-
If they give that trophy to the gnome one more time I hope Wolf picks him up and shoves him into a trash can head first.
-
Shawn Rhoden doing AC is great!! Wolf in also, going to be great contest., Looking forward to it.
and yes, Cedric can show them all.

Depends on what Rhoden's back looks like. And if Cedric decides to actually come in shape for once.
Curious to see what Quincy Winklaar looks like and how he will fare in the 212s.

I agree with you there - womens pole fitness cool! And it is most definitely not easy. It is extremely hard to do some of those moves.
50 events for the Arnold Weekend this year...
-
thank god they gave up the trannyfest called fbb

Is the winner the one who ends up with the most money thrown on stage?

Yeah, how many 'names' (or should I say big BB title winners) could not do Human Flag for a 5 seconds,
but those pole girls can do it ;D
-

-

That has been going on before and after the bbing shows for a long time. It was just called something else ;)
-
They should have gotten rid of fitness instead of womens bodybuilding.

To get an INVITE, you need to apply - many apply, only some get invited.
If you do not apply that you want to compete at the 2013 Arnold, you won't possibly get invited.
Hence, why Erin Stern, #2 ranked Figure competitor right now, did not get an invite for the 2013 Arnold. Because she DIDN'T APPLY for one, as she is taking a break.

Yeah used to be exciting. But you dont need to go that past. When kai and phil was competing, that was also exciting.
In this list, only competitor whom i want see is winkler. Thats it

no womens bodybuilding event.
Exactly,
Arnolds has been bashing todays bodybuilders how they dress like clowns, too big, lousy posers etc...
Last year, when asked who his current favorite bodybuilder was, he said that he has more respect for female bodybuilding physique than men cause they looked more proportional , well presented muscular athletes without the Gut
and this year he takes female BB out of the show
LMAO gotta love Arnold
greatest ambassador of BB
WoooSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

that's what killing bodybuilding right there
Imagine in 1972, "Joe Weiders sports festival" (Mr.O ) with 50 events trying to get attention from fans besides man's BB ! guys like Zane, Sergio,Columbu,Oliva whould have been like "joe are you crazy ?"
It does help Arnolds name in manstream though so Kudos for him.
WoooSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HH
-
wolf for the win, but curious about the dark horse roelly.......would like to see him do well!

Bodybuilding is killing itself...
Many people come for the other events, and many who never would even have interest in bbing go and some even get exposure to the bbers.
Remember, the quality is not like the 90s, especially when you have guys like Branch winning. If guys like the 2007 version of Wolf or an in shape McMillian or Rhoden were winning, then more people would take notice.
-
From last year's 25th.
-
Surprised no Dex.....
-
Shawn Rhoden doing AC is great!! Wolf in also, going to be great contest., Looking forward to it.
and yes, Cedric can show them all.

-
It's hard to call this one - everyone is saying Wolf but Pakulski has got a great chance having taken some time off, and Roelly's been improving this last year or two as well. Shawn Rhoden also will make top four so any one of that lot will win.
-
Shawn Rhoden - 2 weeks
