Cubli is a clever little cube that uses reaction wheels to jump, balance and "walk" across stationary and dynamic surfaces alike.
The Cubli is a 15 × 15 × 15 cm cube that can jump up and balance on its corner. Reaction wheels mounted on three faces of the cube rotate at high angular velocities and then brake suddenly, causing the Cubli to jump up. Once the Cubli has almost reached the corner stand up position, controlled motor torques are applied to make it balance on its corner. In addition to balancing, the motor torques can also be used to achieve a controlled fall such that the Cubli can be commanded to fall in any arbitrary direction. Combining these three abilities — jumping up, balancing, and controlled falling — the Cubli is able to 'walk'.

Great. The pinnacle of human achievement: a walking box.

SO COOL!!!!!
....actually, not. This is lame and not bodybuilding-related. Mods, please ban this poster.

My dog can do better than that.

Yes, so my two Greyhounds have an incredible sense of balance and a perfect center of gravity that allows them to make turns on a dime, shifting their weight evenly in order to keep full stride and not lose any speed. They are also able to walk up steeper inclines than I can and also steeper than that stupid self correcting box can.
Why did you post this? Are you a moron or something?

Think bigger, think not just one but dozens in a wireless mesh network, individual exploratory bots covering large areas quickly, with the ability to physically link together so if one gets stuck (like in a hole too deep to jump out of) then several can join together to make whatever shape they need to get unstuck.
Well using cubli's controllers, motors and accelerometers on a low gravity environment to control... let's say a microsatellites? that's stupid.
We should use your two greyhounds. ::)
You are welcome.

Yes, lets send some remote controlled Legos to do a task inefficiently. This Rubix Cube with a hamster wheel in it is about the most useless thing I have seen all year long.

this is so idiotic I dont even know where to begin... the fact that you cannot see the possibilities with the technology in the box is astounding... wait r you trolling? U are u bastard ;D

Falcon will straighten this out.

Agreed. Dogs are indeed more agile, faster and smarter. So we should send them into dangerous situation s with bombs tied to them. Makes much more sense.

Like a Getbigger that doesn't give a fuck about what others say..

Sounds like someone never had a gyroscope when he was a kid.

Discussion of gyros starts around 14:00. Fun stuff @ 35:40.

too bad he works with electricity and triangles, not squares :(
