All very commendable. Mine is to apply the mantra 'if something is worth doing it is worth doing well' to all aspects of my life. Best of luck for 2014!

Its a learning experience. Just do the best that you can do... Give 110 per cent and you will be a winner. Anything more is a bonus as far as placing.

Excellent.  As we stress over retirement accts so many in the world have no idea where their next meal is coming from.

You and I have the luxury of not worrying about acquiring food, so instead we worry about finances and other such things. And presumably we'd worry about what the poor worry about if we were poor, and they'd worry about what we worry about if they were rich (in global terms).

Why would what the world's poor worry about affect what we as first-world citizens worry about? As long as we don't pretend our worries are equivalent to desperately lacking food, what's the problem here? Having "perspective" about one's place in the world doesn't seem to me to preclude having things to worry about.

If I do the show, I will post pics of the show, not the prep itself. That's too much distraction and only the shape of that day matters.

I love Swiss/Zurich, too bad it's also one of the most expensive places of Europe. If I were living in Australia, then I would choose a cold country, like Canada or somewhere in Scandinavia.

Gotta watch that. I've seen a few shows like that, where more than a few got the idea to clean house in their respective classes the following year. The previously weak classes were loaded. So don't use any excuses during your prep.
Personally, I think prepping for a show a year out is a great idea. Even if you don't do the show, you will most likely make the most gains during that time.

My resolutions are first world....

I am training and watching my diet for the next 6 months, as if I was initially prepping for a show. I've been training, but my diet and training
consistency could be better.

My career demands a lot of time. I would like to spend more time with
friends and loved ones, even if it means making a phone call or having a nice bbq and relaxing.

It was my first reaction when I saw the line up, but you're right, there are so many factors so I better be more than ready.

The general strategy of those prep guys (they work as a team) is as follows: starting in Jan, bring body fat between 10-12% (already there!), bring up weak points, update diet every 4 weeks and 3 months prior to the show (in Dec) the actual prep with 1-2 weekly meetings.

That's also because they have no other options, but yeah, you have big fellas there, like the great and balanced Sonny Schmidt (~RIP~).

Maybe I should start a 'fish vs. chicken' debate on the nutrition section with these figures:

100 gr white fish (pollock):
17.2 gr protein
1.2 gr fat
0 carbs
83 mg sodium

100 chicken filet:
22.8 gr protein

That's also because they have no other options, but yeah, you have big fellas there, like the great and balanced Sonny Schmidt (~RIP~).

Maybe I should start a 'fish vs. chicken' debate on the nutrition section with these figures:

100 gr white fish (pollock):
17.2 gr protein
1.2 gr fat
0 carbs
83 mg sodium

100 chicken filet:
22.8 gr protein
0.9 gr fat
0 carbs
50 mg sodium

there you go facts are facts

I would have no problem with fish but I don't like it so don't eat it.

But still, most coaches, Grandma included, swear by eating huge amounts of fish. Is this tradition/bro-science or is there a rationale behind this?

We need to investigate this! Later this week, I will start a debate on the nutrition section.

Doz brings a lot of common sense when he talks about training, nutrition and drugs.
The only stupid mistakes he made were his arm injuries, HIT isn't perfect.

for training i listen to his technique theories

i disregard the HIT theory, it's clearly a gimmick he's selling

it doesnt add up with all the literature and bro science on weight training

I eat fish every single day. One day tuna, next day salmon. Just to add variety in my protein consumption since I do not use protein drink only solid food.
Mostly eat beef for meal 1 fish for meal 2 and chicken for meal 3

omega 3s?

That's the only true benefit I see in fish. I take multiple spoons of flaxseed oil, not the best taste, but that's only a matter of seconds.

Multiple protein sources is a smart thing, since none of them have a perfect amino acid score. I love the convenience of protein powders (unflavored ones only) and you save money when you buy them in bulk.
