Ok,
So here's the deal... I have been working in Los Angeles for the past 7 years.
During this time, I've been basically commuting from the east coast (Washington D.C, Richmond, VA. and most recently Durham, NC)
Well, my commute time has come to a close and I'm officially going to be a full time LA resident. Now, I already shipped one car across the country, but now, I'm going to drive my car across the country after the Christmas Holidays.
I've never driven that far before. The farthest I've ever driven has been from DC down to Florida. So maybe 850 miles or so.
Any getbiggers have to do the long drive like that? Any tips?
I expect I can do 13-15 hour day drives. I've got my trust radar detector for any state that doesn't end in "Virginia" and I've got both map and GPS, just in case shit hits the fan.
What say you getbig?

My car is an HIV free zone... Plus he's already on the west coast, so there's no point in that.

Just ship it man.
I shipped the first one, but I figured, this time... Why not take a few days and see the countryside? I've never done it before and I could see some interesting sights.
I am still contemplating shipping it, but there's something very "Top Gear" about doing one of these long drives.

Understood but by the time you get to Arkansas you will say damn why didnt I ship this thing? Thats the farthest I have driven from NC thought I would never get there. Make sure to pack a gas can.

I drove with a friend from Detroit to LA. We switched back and forth as drivers and spent the night wherever it happened to be.

I'm thinking if I can do between 13-15 hours a day driving it shouldn't take me more than about 2.5 days.
With that I have some spare time to do what I want to during stops. See some things.
I've got spare time.

No need to rush .. we drove a maximum of 5-7 hours each .. took us 3-4 days. It is nice to stop and feel like you are on a road trip.

We flew .. his cousin played center for the Pistons that year and bought a car for his agent and asked him to drive it so he asked me to come along and we did. We came back via plane.

My brother and I rode his motorcycles from Michigan to CA a few years ago when he moved his family back, 2,200 miles plus. It was something. Lots of cows, corn, and bugs. Colorado and Utah were probably the prettiest, but hot as fuck in August. Good luck, Tu. Safe travels.
-
Take the drive bro, my brother did it last summer and said it was awesome. I'm planning on renting and RV and doing a two week drive around America once my son is a bit older.

13-15 hours a day is brutal....8-9 is still a lot, but you'll have more time for sightseeing and won't feel like death at the end.
Bring audiobooks.
Do you have an idea what states you're gonna drive through? Let us know, and we can tell you what to see along the way
-
Provigil will keep you awake nicely.
Fuck the audiobooks. By the fourth hour you will be so damn tired of hearing that voice droning on nonstop like a nagging ex wife you will ride in silence just out of spite.
Texas = forever. Expect the interstate ads to be mostly 1) Knives 2) Titty Bars 3) Free 88oz Steak (but only if you eat the entire thing, along with soup, salad, rolls, two veggie sides and dessert. Otherwise it is going to cost you $105.)
So you make sure you stop to buy yourself a decent knife (1) before going to the titty bar (2) and eating the free steak (3). Giving you a dull knife is one of the tricks they use to make sure you don't eat it all. You saw away at it as it cools to the point you end up with carpal tunnel syndrome.

I drove the 2500 miles from Houston to Seattle in >48 hours in a Penske moving truck towing my 'hot rod'. I would not recommend that. We stopped once for a 4 hour nap and rotated drivers whenever we started nodding out. Just pick your route, use your trusty GPS, and drive until you start nodding out or you need to eat. Oh, and plan ahead for a place to sleep. Nothing worse than trying to find a rest stop after driving for 14 hours and passing out at the wheel.

Happy Holidays Tu.

Texas is amazing with how many sex industry ads and porn shops and strip clubs they have. Its hilarious. The last bastion of masculinity with a little religious repression thrown in. Lulz.
check your pms BTW lurker.
