Vince has always had tremendous arms.  Like Phils, they literally over power everything else.

yeah if you look at how narrow his abs insertions are and the very special shape of the obliques and side abs(look the part which goews around upper abs), this is what created the illusion, not a small waist by default, its more the shape of his abs-side abs.

also from the side his side abs "wall" is much shorter than other atheltes.

compare this to the guy in background between them in black posing thong and it becomes brutaly obvious.that guy has monstrous legs but his upper body looks to be swimming-drowning in the obliques.looks absolute shit, a random ammassment of muscle.

Exactly. Funny how now people babble about Flex but by his own admission he would self-sabotage with McDonalds, etc.   and very rarely came in ripped.

True, the '93 AC was one of the few exceptions.

My mentor in bodybuilding, Rich Baretta, beat Vince in the 1987 Mr. America. I was a young kid...maybe 13 or 14 watching him train. Then by the time I was 17, he helped me win the Teen Philly and get ready for the few shows I did. It was the only time I ever juiced.

Ahh good times.

Yes, the night Vince beat Flex was a magical night.

For me, it was a night of lotion, moist towelettes, and many napkins.

yeah his best was 98.

he never reproduced that later on.

but with kidney issues its almost impossible to come dry.

and well, lazy dieter on top of that.

not real lazy, but that much lazier than the top shredded guys.

i dont think he lacked the genetics to come totaly shredded, theres some guys who never get rid of all those last bit fatty spots, flex def could come with no subc fat.

Taylors upperbody is much harder.............you could see it far better in poses other than the double biceps.

Actually,Flex while in good shape here for sure, is still very soft.

I hear ya` bud!

Seeing the Serratus sharply outlined is always a good indicator of low bodyfat IMO......Flex`s Serratus are far from sharp here, and his intercostals, abs, and sartorious are sorely lacking compared to Vinces.

Vince like flex defines superior genetic response to steroids

have u seen how vince trains

very light, all machine , isolation stuff

Vince also had wide clavicles when compared to his waist. Having a sharp constrast between the width of the shoulders, and the width of the waist is the ideal starting point (pre-drugs). Vince looked like he went "light" on the drugs.

Even Jay Cutler had that starting point. Albiet Jay's waist was wider than Vince's, but Jay had wider clavicles to off-set the wider waist. (in chasing Coleman, the excessive drugs eventually produced a blockier look)

Same with Levrone. Good starting point.

Its all about having the right shoulder/midsection ratios

His thighs were always a little bit "small", especially compared to his great calves.  Personally, I think he has one of the best all-time physiques--because I think 30" shredded thighs look retarded--but the schmoes/judges would probably disagree.

Vince said he never even trained his calves (matarazzo said the same...) and if he did he would do some standing calf raises without weight. Also said he ate 3 times aday... If this is not bullshit it's crazy beyond words. Vince's back was fucking great as well, people tend to forget this...someone can find some pics? that or i try later when i'm back from the gym...deadlift day  :-\

True, but competitors aren't only judged by their strong poses...
People complain that Phil is 'all arms', then what about Lee?

A friend of mine said Vince told him bodyweight calf raises were all he did.

On the 2006 BFTO, you can see Vince do a few different calf raise machines.  Definitely great genetics either way though
