Big, strong, impressive guy in college, alas just barely mediocre in the NFL.
-
rory leidelmeyer and him were buddies
-
Good article!
-
What a story with that guy. I recall the whole deal, fully.
-
what a waste
what a bust

Whenever an NFL rookie's pr centers around how strong he is, his physique, how big his muscles are, he invariably has a disappointing career. Think Mike Ruth.

Mike was a good dude and got to know him visiting my GF at BC. Had the worst acne I had ever seen coming right down his arms.

I read Tony's book, very interesting...
-
Ran into him a couple of times at the local uni. Huge, huge guy, but also one of the biggest dicks.
-
Used to listen to Appetite for Destruction whilst squatting.
-
"He was chemically enhanced to the nth degree."
gh15 :'( :'( :'(

One of the biggest busts in NFL history!

He's not the first steroid guy to get into pain killers. The same drug dealers in the gym parking lots that sell out of their trunk also deal in other crap.
What I find even more disturbing about his story are guys that drug just to look good in the mall and the clubs. There are guys who do cycle after cycle just to walk around with their temporary drug muscles to feel good about them self.
-
In the ESPN article posted; it said that Tony was 320LB in college and dominating the competition. After he left the NFL the 1st time, Tony ended up in drug rehab... Then...He made a come-back. Tony was steroid free during his comeback and weighed 320 (but wasnt as dominant)
There is no way that he was back to up to 320LB drug free. He admitted that he was taking about 6 different steroids to get up to 320 in college. There is no way that he could come off all the roids.... and still weigh 320lbs. His testicles would be shutdown.
This is why I hate these: "I've turned from my evil ways" articles. The athlete in question, despite being older in years, usually never quite overcame their chronic lying problem. Whats worse, they use the article (filled with lies) to get attention & sympathy.

Remember Mike Ruth, came out of Boston College.
-
He looks like Lattimer from the Program in that pic.

I saw this on ESPN earlier this year also!
-
He was in the wrong era...Probably 50% of the NFL is juicing now. Chemical meat suit posers..
-
Cool article. I sent it to my bro in-law and plan on talking about it tonight over beers.

you have to be the most insecure guy on getbig. Anything positive ever come out of your mouth? If you think every muscular guy is such a loser why do you come here?
I'm far from obsessive, definitely one of the more conservative guys on here in regards to how much time I put into it but I dont hate on dudes who give it their all...100% every day 365 days a year. guys here walkin around 6% bf That kind of dedication is admirable...
.walking around big to impress women I dont agree with that.....walking around 5% bf just to feel good about yourself is alpha as fuck. If I could I would...you bet

I'd actually forgotten him, but I remember now. Gigantic dude. I'm amazed he's still alive, honestly.

You don't need roids to gain weight. My neighbor is over 300 and he doesn't do shit but eat. You would have to see how he looked at 320 the second time. He could have been a big fatty.

Ehh, I wouldn't even put him in the top ten. He had an average nfl career upon his return.

I'd put him in the top 5. He was right up there with Heath Shuler, Jamarcus Russell, Brian Bozworth & the biggest bust of all, Ryan Leaf. The man loves his drugs...

Matt Leinart, Akili Smith, Peter Warrick, Charles Rodgers, Mike Williams, the d lineman Buffalo picked up a few years back, there's a few out there. Top 15 I'd say, but I don't know if I'd call him top five since he did com back to actually play a few seasons.

This. He was actually pretty good once he got over himself. I remember him having a pretty decent career during his comeback.

I thought that we were talking about gaining muscle, no?
Indeed you don't need hormones to become a fatso.

that 99 percent of guys who take gear
why is it disturbing wanting to look good
or are you one of those naturals with a chip on your shoulder
cause everyone in the gym that looks better than you is all drugs

He is assuming that Tony regained muscle weight. All that was stated was that he made his comeback at over 300lbs naturally. That is attainable for someone like him. I would have to look at his body composition to determine if he juice. Weight per se means very little as to whether someone is enhance or not.
Being a line man seems to not require a lot of athleticism. They work under very close quarters. Their job is to just get in the way. To be an obstacle. Being huge, whatever the make up, is a big advantage in doing this job well.

haha yeah, steroids are great 8)

It seems he got divorced and remarried.
I remember that his first wife was a Michigan State student named Amber. They also had a daughter.
She probably regrets ever going near this jagoff.
Second biggest bust in terms of draft pick (second overall pick that year behind Aikman) in NFL history. Only Ryan Leaf was/is more pathetic.

Very easy, he went from 320 muscular to 320 fat
