There is the theory that growth hormones are released
during sleep. I don't know if the body makes up for it by releasing more hormones at other times when a person misses sleep, such as while working out.

If muscles grow when sleep, then the following formula must apply:
Sleep 2 hour a day = Look like Vince Goodrum
Sleep 8-10 hours a day = Look like Ronnie Coleman
So basically, the more you sleep, the better chances you have of looking like Ronnie Coleman.

I doubt that the amount of GH secreted during sleep would turn anyone into a Markus Ruhl.
If that was the case,I`d be a sleeping mo fo! :D
Don`t forget to take advantage of the anabolic window of opportunity guys!

Sleep is fuckin great for your body though. It helps mediate immune function, reduces cortisol. boosts endogenous hormones (if you're into caring about your endogenous production).
I've found an inverse relationships with food and sleep: I can substitute sleep for food. But if I don't sub one for the other, bad shit happens.

he is right, sleep is an important component as the other 100 components the all contribute to muscle gains. You can get big muscles on 3 hours sleep a day if everything else is in place but you simply will gain more muscles sleeping 8 hours a day, not rocket science here.

Research sleep studies and muscle growth. They found it occurs during REM phase 2 approximatly 36 hours after a sufficient training stimulus is applied. IF you are over trained or exhausted, it could be much longer. Maybe not at all. Explains partly why most don't grow much, if at all.

I find sleep reduces my stress levels. Or maybe I just need a nap cuz i'm an old man
