A toddler who was cursed at and encouraged to curse in a video posted online has been placed in protective custody.
Omaha police said that four children, including the toddler from the video that was posted by the police union, were removed from the home.
The union has faced criticism for posting the video on its website.
Union officials say they wanted to stimulate discussion about problems in the community and show what officers encounter.
But critics said there were better ways to do that without subjecting a child to ridicule.
The video shows an African-American boy wearing only a diaper as he’s harangued with racial slurs and obscenities from at least three adults.

damn man that's just not right. Had to put my son in a time out for saying "damn it" the other day. I don't even know what my wife would do if he said some of that stuff.

Strongly disagree. The use of "bad words" in the home does not constitute child abuse and doesn't give the state grounds to take the child. Lame parenting isn't the same as abuse.
If anything, the kid is pretty sharp. Shows a strong command of language for his age. Swearing correctly is a difficult linguistic shit to fuck.

Maybe Romney can adopt the kid?

Ahh, the open road. The wind in his hair.

have the child given to parents who will use his strong command of language to help him read and write and to learn to play an instrument. Parents who encourage his creativity.

Can't take a kid away from it's parents unless the kid is in danger. Not some 'he's gonna be a thug someday and get arrested' danger. Immediate danger.
No troll, if the bad language is the whole story then child protective services had no business there and someone needs to reign them in.

The State are such hypocrites. Removing a toddler/pre-schooler from it's biological parents is far more traumatising and potentially damaging than being taught profanity. Doing such an act virtually guarantees the child future psychological damage, which the State will deny any responsibility for and use it as justification for kidnapping the kid in the first place.

i worked in a group home for a while. in those households, profanity doesn't hold the weight it does elsewhere. to them, saying "you're being a bitch" is like saying "you're being bad". they just don't interpret those words with the severity we do. and, really, if you think about it... doesn't that mean that they're not really being verbally abused? words are just clumps of syllables we attach meaning to. if you're taught that "bitch" isn't anything serious, it isn't magically damaging the kid just because society at large says it's a bad word. i had 11 year olds dump piles of curse words on me and literally not realize what they were saying was bad. because, to them, those words are on par with "darn" and "shoot".
i'm not saying the kid had a good household (the vulgarity and the fact that they taped it are symptomatic of larger problems IMO), but taking the kid away from his parents BECAUSE of that video is just plain stupid.

I didn't click the link but from what PoleMuncher posted several kids were removed but it doesn't say it was because of the video.

You make an excellent point. While it may be distasteful to watch and feed the racist trolls its certainly creates a slippery slope for the state to intervene and remove your children. Not good.

yes, agreed. The parents are complete idiots & should be fined or charged... BUT we're talking about WORDS. There are kids being starved, molested, beaten and worse... Living in filth and running in the streets at 3 years old..
And they choose to pull this kid and throw him in with 15 kids in a shitty foster home? My nieces and nephews spent their childhood in foster care up north, it's BAD.
Unless there were other things they found when they visited.
