Title: Carabiners for home gym?
Post by: Audioslave on January 10, 2014, 06:13:40 PM
My buddy gave me a Pacific Fitness four-sided home gym (like the kind you'd see at a hotel) and it's pretty neat with the leg extension/curl, lat pulldowns, multi-use chest, and leg press benches. It won't replace the gym, but it's neat for days I can't make it out there.

Anyway, it didn't come with all of the bars or carabiners. I have bought new bars, but still need carabiners. What kind would be suggested for this type of use? I see a lot that say things like, "Load limit: 40/60/80/etc lb." and well, that just won't do. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Yeah those are the type I've been looking at, but they all seem to have such low weight capacity that I wasn't sure if there were specific types of gym equipment

Tell the person at the hardware store what you want. They'll show you the right thing.

If you don't plan on changing them much, use the ones that have a screw mechanism instead of the spring.   They hold up to 600lbs each or something, and are in the same display as the crabiners.   I used them to make a chain supspended chin up bar and they work perfectly.

Links, yes - couldn't remember what they were called so I can post a pic.  Now I can - thank you.
