I remember hearing about the original story. Outside of financial gain, what would drive someone to do this? And her husband playing along (if that's the case)?

This is all about suing a big pharmaceutical company and a pharmacy chain for millions. Even if the companies lawyer takes the path of least resistance she will make a couple of hundred thousand if they settle out of court to make her go away.  Maybe after this film surfaces she will get nothing and in a perfect world be arrested for fraud.
