What type of back pain did you have?

didn't know for sure but resulted from a slip and fall.   saw doctor and chiropractor   they said degenerative spine disease
chiropractor did not help.   saw a massage therapist    that did not help.  been suffering with this for years on and off     found this piece of equipment and boom  no more back pain.  so all this time it was tight muscles.    I trained through the pain and suffered in silence because I was tired of trying gimmicks and magic creams.     tired of having everyone give their opinion only to have zero success with all their recommendations         so now that I found this piece of equipment Im keeping it

Tried it, didn't care for it.  I prefer a normal stretch station.

I will agree with you in that I get debilitating back pain if i don't stretch regularly

I LOVE that thing and went to buy one for my house and that fucking pile of flimsy tubes was fucking $800! Fuck that, I use bands attached to fixed objects and get 50% of the effectiveness.

The base looks kinda narrow... not very sturdy... Probably would wobble

Good advice. Back pain can come frim a variety of causes. Sometimes simple stretching will suffice other times it won't. Your almost always better off stretching the injured area out n then maintaining that stretching regimen for life. If in the process it takes your pain away your one of the lucky ones. I love that machine as well. I also love the stretchmate. I have one in my house n they have one on the top floor of venice. The trustretch I have also n they also have one in venice. There r occasions that stretching while suffering a nerve compression will make matters worse but the person will discover this on their own.

Oh yeah. Fuk u

I bought an inversion table instead.  I was injured at the time & just couldn't move in certain ways.  No way was I going to be able to swing up like the batman so I liked that I could limp my way into the table and select an angle if all the way upside down was too painful.  It didn't cure me magically but it gave some relief.

Downside is the space it eats so it's not currently set up.  :-\  Also feel like I'll stroke out on it someday.

Buy a reverse hyper.  Best thing there is for your back.  Back pain will disappear and your squats and deadlifts will improve rapidly.

most people as they age should be careful going competly upside down. There have been reports of eye damage from inversion tables. may want to keep it to round 45 degrees. Still more than enuff to traction the spine.

I know, they're heavy and huge.  Bought one from Westside a month ago.  It was delivered buy a straight truck fully assembled on a pallet.  Had to take it apart to get it in my basement, still heavy as hell.  Love it though.  Every gym should have one, most don't.  Expensive piece of equipment, but worth every penny.

wrecked my lower back and right s-1 joint pretty bad and i wasnt able to train for 3 months. i had a previous L-4/L-5 diskectomy in 96 and ever since my back was never the same. the pain i had was worse than my previous injury i mentioned and i was sure i was going to go under the knife again. i tried thai massages, chiropractors etc so i decided to give the Teetor Hangups table a try and on the very first time i used it i heard 3 loud pops and the next day i was back in the gym..the best 300 bucks ive ever spent.

wuts ironic about this story is that u r describing subluxed joints. Joints that have become locked I. position n don't move thru their normal range. Shame the chiros couldn't pop those joints open. Awesome it worked for u.

I had a bad lower back for about 10 years, couldn`t squat at all,and saw an advert for teeter inversion tables, but i was buying a TITAN homegym and part of the package was inversion boots,so decided to try them. Its no problem getting into position on the TITAN you have dipping bars to help you get up in position and to pull up against when you come back up.First time is weird with the blood rush to the head but my fingers were about an inch off the floor,1 min later i could touch the floor.Next day my left hip was sore, felt like it had dropped back into place, but i hung again for 1 min,and felt that good i put a plate on the squat bar.No back problem at all and 5 mins later was squatting 3 plates again. This was 5 years ago and now at age 51 i use them 2 times a week for a 1 min hang and never get back problems anymore.Mate of mine bought a teeter table on ebay and used that with just as good results to sort is lower back problems out.

every review I read about inversion tables or any other type of common sense, natural, non-surgical/Rx, cure/treatment, is always negative and "studies prove it sucks" and "surgery and pills the only treatment"

then I thought, why would the people who get rich from people who are ill want them to get better?

The thing is gracie, what you are doing is the exact same thing as using inversion, you are simply stretching out the spine,i do the same thing as you, weighted chins. And this is yet again another "old school" exercise thats no longer done, and replaced with machines.

try this one too.  if u have a standing preacher lean over it so that your waist is at the top or the bench where your underarm would usually go.  lean your upper body forward so that your legs come off the floor.  stay here bout a minute so the weight of your legs pulls your low back open.  often you can get the low back to pop open like this. oh...your legs go off the slanted side not the side that is straight up n down.

Another old school exercise thats not done much anymore is the hanging knee raise, hang from the chinning bar and bring the knees up high, same thing as stretching out the spine. Its funny but when i started training in 1979 these were exercises that everyone did in the gym and no-one ever had bad backs.

THAT is a very astute observation. Although I knew guys with lower back issues years ago, they certainly were the minority compared with today.
