I doubt that mofo could run a block without keeling over.
In NJ much of the sand is thick and like quick sand. It's hard as hell to run in if you are not near the water line. In South Carolina the sand is packed tight. Easy to run on.

Horrible, horrible, horrible exercise.
great for cardio, great for everything, but ill never run in the sand again... especially not in combat boots and gear.

It's hard as hell. Easily 2-3x as hard as regular running.
Great for strengthening all the little stabilizer muscles in the feet/legs, some post-rehab protocols make use of sand for that purpose
