Anyone have a brother/sister who you no longer speak to/aren't close with anymore? ...does it bother you?

I had a brother who I didn't speak to for years and years. We just started speaking the last year.
It sort of bothered me but not really.
However my circumstances were probably different than most.

Being a bit of a mental case I had cut off ties to most of my family.
Not a pleasurable state of being. Unless your relatives/close siblings are total scum it's quite unnatural to cut all ties.

Have a sister. Can't remember the last time either her or her fat slob husband called me without asking me to do something.
The last time I ripped them so hard that they claimed to want nothing to do with me, the irony being that I haven't wanted anything to do with them for the last 20 years.
I'm not anti-family by any stretch. It's great, if you get along, but, if you don't, best to cut ties and not try to force a relationship.

I watched a film once, where one sister said to another "if you were a stranger who gave me their business card, I probably wouldn't keep it".

Yeah, I haven't spoken to my bro in years. he is a self centered asshole who thinks of no one but himself. It doesn't bother me at all. I barely ever think about him. the next time I probably will even see him will be at his funeral and that is even if I go.

I don't talk with one of my brothers unless it's a family holiday. He never calls me, I never call him. He's ultra religious and writes in birthday cards things like, "i hope you're going to church" etc....which isn't really bad in itself it's just that he carries that holier than thou attitude. I have a friend who is super religious but she has the attitude that you should love the sinner, hate the sin (which is great). Wish my brother thought like that.
I think so long as that sibling or relative doesn't ruin family gatherings, you're good to go. I wouldn't recommend burning bridges because family is something you'll have to see at some point.

I have a stepsister who, god willing, I will never have to speak to again. I haven't spoken with her in years, and if I do again, it'll be too soon. She's just not a likeable person. She can't change, and neither can I.
I have a brother who I love. But we never talk. He's about to have his first child. Things are "tense", and there's too much backstory to bore the board. Suffice it to say, I regret much with my little brother. I wish I'd been a better brother to him. There's a big chasm there, and I probably can't fix it...some of it's him, some of it's me. I suppose my failings here explain why I overcompensate as a father and husband. I don't seem to be able to maintain healthy relationships with other adult males...I like hanging around with the guys, but I never do much to stay in touch if they don't exert tremendous effort to include me in their lives.
The women in my life on the other hand...there, I overcompensate and lavish with attention. I have no idea why I'm wired that way. Odd....

Very close to my brother and sister. We all live far away from each other but get together more then family's I know who live in the same city. My brothers a liberal so we get into some heated arguments but me being the getbigger of the family I basically run shit and put him in his place.

Never remember my parents ever even arguing. Guess that's were us kids learned to get along. I could see being from a broken home the kids might pick sides and fight.

Nadal made Federer look silly .. if people did not figure it out yet, Nadal will surpass 17-18 slams which is insane ( he has 14 so far) and to be honest for the past almost 8 years he is better than him anyway. Beat him 23/33 head to head till now. I expect him to run through wawrinka unless that guy has an insane good day and Nadal loses a hand. At the pace Nadal plays there is no beating him now. His average is other's best and that is a problem. Today he had a nasty open blister and in tennis that is very bothersome. So he played with heavy tape, had trouble gripping the racquet and still beat him clearly. I don't know how they program these human robots to play but nadal is ridiculous (I do actually).
