A few hours away. Both come in after sad showings. Maybe Overeem will lay him out and Redeem himself a little.
-
Terrible match-up for Frank. He's had difficulties with strong heavyweights before and Alistair has great clinch and knees. I think Reem will pound him out before he gasses.

I agree. I kind of feel bad for Mir.

Mir looked absolutely abysmal against Daniel Cormier. Just horrible to watch.
IMO he needs to drop a little weight and focus on improving his cardio. His striking is beyond telegraphed. It's like he's moving in slow motion.
The two title fights could be interesting, although they more than likely will go the distance. Barao hasn't lost in 8 years. I like Faber, but in their first fight he was outclassed. Barao's Muay Thai is too much for The California Kid.
-
I think overeem will destroy him. Goin to bed now and wake up for the fights at 1am here on tv
-
I hope Overeem has been working on his cardio. He looks like he's in a lot better condition now that the NSAC's testing him and making sure he's not a consumer of Horse Meat™.
-
That Barao looks like he's been training at Auschwitz.

Cardio has always been his problem and it always will. He tried to pace himself in bigfoot fight but got tired and knocked out. Last fight against Browne he went for the kill and got tired after 3 minutes.
I think Frank is a safe match becauce Mir will break before Reem does.
-
Mir will break his leg.
-
if anyone wants to bet, sportsbook.ag is paying pretty good for faber and lamas since both underdogs. i put a dub on both (: i like both mir and overeem......but i see it overeem wining tko rd 2
-
Mir will break his leg.
Possible, but not likely.
Be an early bedtime for Frank tonight.
-
Mirs last fight
-
Shitty heavyweight fight.. One guy well past his prime and the other struggling for form after some lacklustre performances ???

Tonight Overeem id back
-
Overeem TKO 1st Round, ALDO submission in 2nd, Barao in barnburner, split decision
-
nattie ufc less interesting now
-
Overeem surprised me, finally fighting smart and respecting his opponent, but can't help feel a little disappointed. Overeem never looked like he was going to go for the KO, he was always just going to point fight.
-
Damn, I really wanted Mir to pull off the win somehow

This was the hard right in the last round, but Overeem just cruised after that, he could have easily swarmed and KO'ed Frank after this IMO. Overeem just playing it safe.
-
Awesome to see the Reem back! Little action but in hindsight he played it safe, didn't play into his emotions and just swarm a dangerous Frank Mir. I like it. Hopefully he inches closer back to his old killer form.
-
Good win for the reem..
-
Reem played it safe, which he should considering the outcome against Bigfoot and Travis Browne.
-
-
weird fight..very tentative Overeem.. it's like he lost all his confidence

This straight right was in super slo-mo and still looked fast and violent. :o

Frank Mir looks like he is being hit by a truck in that slo mo footage, look at how suddenly and violently his neck is pushed backwards.

Straight right that started from Overreem's hip. Not to mention Mir had his chin stuck in there like a jr high-school fight. Got what he deserved.
-
Frank Mir is very good at getting beat up to a pulp. Whay is his oofensive weapon? Did he ever punch anyone in a fight?

They have both lost a lot of size and power.
-
pretty low standard fight both guys look shot, no flow to either of them, to hesitant, which to me is always the end of a fighter, seen first hand with Tszyu, de la hoya, realise its MMa not boxing but when you can no longer pull the trigger, your shot,

Reem has looked hesitant in other fights though, especially in K1. He's just an awkward fighter.
-
Poor Mir, is he still alive. I guess the knee took a lot out of him... kinda hoped he would win.
On a more positive note he passed the test and survived 3 rounds which takes a lot of willpower.

you gotta admit he can take a pretty good beating. not exactly what I'd like to be known for mind you ;D

I think the Overeem vs Mir fight was pure garbage.
Most likely, Dana figured that he needed to groom an opponent for Brock Lesnar, prior to his return. Not to mention that one of these fighters was due to get cut from the UFC (Historically speaking, after 2 loses, a fighter gets cut, unless he can actually provide a great return on investment via high PPV sales).
Overeem is still a "visually" appealing heavyweight with an impressive CV that gets fans interested. What better way to slowly rebuild the Overeem hype, than by putting him up against a tired Mir that is clearly on his way out?
As soon as his current WWe stint is done, Lesnar will come on over for a nice pay day in the UFC and in return will provide Dana and the Fertittas with massive Pay Per View numbers, as WWe fans will buy the UFC event (Lesnar vs Overeem) in support of their "wrasstling" hero.

I agree. I also think Overeem is done. He was a different fighter or maybe he was not that good. I thought he was at some point.
-
Mir will get another fight, versus Brock for their 3rd fight

I can see that match-up..How about Reem? Dos santos?

Overreem would get smoked bad by JDS.

Are people really gonna pay to watch Lesnar get humiliated again? The guy doesn't belong in MMA.
-

Self-respecting fans of MMA won't, but the millions of WWe fans will pay that and more.
Not to mention, that there will be a large cohort of MMA fans that will pay the cash just to see Overeem (or whomever they pick to go up against Brock) beat the living shit out of Brock.
The world of MMA is completely controlled by money, as I guess pretty much all things are.

If that happens, I guarantee a Brock win. Mir is starting to smell fishy. It's almost like he is a wrestler working a plotline.

Man these guys are as bad as some of the Pro BB.
-
Look at the guy 2nd from the right with the giant man boobs
-
Jones taller than the supposed 6'5 Overeem.
