Title: New addition
Post by: _aj_ on February 08, 2014, 06:47:21 PM
Lab/Newfie mix, 2.5 months. Def a getbigger, as she's been taking the fight to the alpha dog. Rescued from a high-kill shelter in Kentucky. Her whole litter was whisked away by our favorite rescue outfit.

That's what happens when you have babies  :-\ the worst part about babies is when they start chewing and ripping everything apart. Train her well.

She's so cute and fluffy though.  :)

Ticking clock in her basket might help, they say it mimics the mothers heartbeat and reassures the pup.

Worked for one of my dogs.

I have a white noise machine that didn't work. She took a nap in there this afternoon, so I am hopeful.

She's mostly on tile or wood. Highly supervised in my den.

We only do rescues. I had a pit/lab and now our other dog is a pit/border collie. Scary fucking smart. The new one and the pit/BC have been having a blast.

There are a couple of shelters up here that take in A LOT of dogs from Kentucky and Tennessee when there's room.  Mine came from Kentucky (an abandoned litter  :'( )  Best dog ever.

OMG that's my dogs name too  :)

Is she deaf?

Is she deaf?

My lab/pit bull that passed last year was deaf. She was a great, very calm dog. Wouldn't come for shit if you called her, but that's OK. I spoke American Dog Sign  ;)

No, why?

No, why?

A high percentage of Dalmatians are. There is a recessive gene that causes deafness that is found on the same allele as the gene for white coloration, IIRC. My pit/lab who was deaf was white. White German Shepherds also have a high proclivity for deafness and are usually barred by color from service.

I think that goes for white kittens with blue eyes too.
