Title: World War One Centinial activites?
Post by: Irongrip400 on February 12, 2014, 12:35:40 PM
The hundred year anniversary to the Great War is coming up, and I tried to look online to see if there were any activities planned in Europe, but I can't find a site dedicated to it.  Any of you Eurotwinks have any information?  Being a history buff, I wanted to make a trip over there this summer and partake.  Thanks in advance.

These two sites for US events -

http://www.worldwar-1centennial.org/ .

http://www.theworldwar.org/visit/upcoming-events .

For Foreign or Joint events, try these two collectors forums -

http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=8 .

http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/index.php .

http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/ .

There are some experienced members on those three that might have an idea which events are shaping up well.

Interesting article on BBC website earlier from various historians as to who was responsible for starting WW1. Ten different opinions - almost reads like your average argument on Getbig:

This one is Austrian.  (Kamerad Schnürschuh) Let’s see if you can spot the different attitude.

This one too.

Finally, yanks think of something else, but soldiers marched to this.
