Title: Invest in Aluminum?

Ah, so to make cars lighter and more fuel efficient more domestic car manufacturers are using aluminum. And because of this JP Morgan and others are warehousing/stockpiling aluminum so that the price of it will go up. Now, what does this mean to the consumer/car buyer? Hmm.

It means they are going to make cheaper cars but charge you more for them.

I also thought that carbon fiber and nano tubes would be the way to go.

Aluminum is abundant, or so I thought, but you are right Parker,  Look at the 3 month chart on Alcoa

Damn...that 3 month chart.

BMW had bought an American carbonfiber manufacturer, and they are producing carbonfiber intensive cars like the i3 and i8 (monocoque, doors, etc) which have huge waiting lists. And are using many carbonfiber parts in the upcoming M3/M4. And the future 5 and 7 series you will see more carbonfiber parts as well.
So, they bought a manufacturer so that they could produce carbonfiber cheaper.

The American companies, particularly Ford with it's new F-150 have gone  the aluminum route, and supposedly, the trucks will cost MORE to fix. So, you get a lighter vehicle that gets better gas mileage, whose metal will cost the manufacturer more, and you more to fix...
So, basically they find a way to screw you either way.

we need to get cracking on the Getbig diamond making machine...and flood the marker with cheap diamonds. And come up with a catchy marketing campaign...
"Getbig Diamonds, cut like the striations of Andreas Munzer....
Mirage, Room 7...by the ice machine..."

Aluminum isn't that abundant because of the cost to make it. There was a plant down in Vancouver, WA that closed because it couldn't buy enough wholesale electricity from the City to keep up with orders. It takes a HUGE amount of electricity to make aluminum.

You're late to the game brah.  I've been stocking up on those grooved shelves at the bottom of chalkboards for almost a year.

Aluminium is used in the auto industry for decades.
Today is the carbon fiber era. Don't understand that aluminium hype.
If you were talking about lithium (electric batteries) it would make more sense.

Invest in Aluminum?Speculate in highly leveraged commodity contracts?  Because that is the only way you can make meaningful amounts of money in metals.  Keep in mind most lose money.

Bad investment. JP Morgan bought these only to screw up Ford and others who will follow... But on the car market, people are not going to be willing to pay an additional 5k+ for aluminum, they will buy another model. Basically ford is trying to innovate but they will fail because financial firms are fucking them up the ass

BMW bought an American carbonfiber manufacturer. Maybe carbonfiber is still too expensive to produce for a vehcile like the F-15?.

I heard that the spire of the Washington Monument is aluminum.  They wanted the absolute best and at the time of construction it cost more than gold.
