??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? i don't understand this guys attraction why do people go to his movies. he's taking over nba all star weekend . is he supposed to be funny? he seems childish and annoying. don't remember a guy who was supposed to be funny not be funny since dane cook. please explain i don't get it. george carlin, richard pryor, chris rock, jerry seinfeld, andrew dice clay, kevin meaney, stephen lynch, those guys are funny. ::) ::) ::)

He's a funny, non-threatening black comic. The key to it is non threatening. There are a lot of black comics that are far funnier, but they're street guys, so it's not enjoyable to milk toast whites. Patrice O'Neal was like that, a comedic beast, but he was too much of a curmudgeon that it took a longtime to break through.

the talent pool is a little thin right now. there are no powerhouses... richard pryor, eddie murphy, chris rock...
kevin hart is a solid comedy central guy, but he's not a top tier dude. It's like that in music too... bruno mars, then, who... there aren't any Michael Jacksons out there right now.

Kevin Hart is very funny but I think he is getting over exposed. Too much of a good thing. A little bit of Kevin Hart's act goes a long way. I like him and I found myself wishing he would shut up at the celebrity game.
For the record I think Patrice O'Neal was one of the funniest comedians of all time. I saw him live once and I was cracking up the whole time. Most of my white counterparts weren't digging him too much which I found very disappointing. I'm pissed that he passed away. That shit he did on the radio "Black Phil", fucking hilarious.

Hart's current movie 'Ride Along' had a $25M budget and has made so far $110M US Gross, not to mention overseas gross.
THIS despite the fact that there are so many big budget movies these days that barely even break even.
Bringing in money to investors is all that matters.. be it movie, tv, comedy album investors etc.....

I watched the NBA celeb game last night and this clown didn't say one single funny thing. The only funny thing he was involved in was watching his midget ass try to play basketball. Must be some sort of affirmative action thing. Was there a non-funny black comedian quota we needed filled or something?

i imagine this is his "a" material. pretty lame much like dane cook he relies on making loud noises flapping his arms around stage and acting like we should think he's funny. eddie murphy he's not.

That's why I said in films. The stand-up/improv medium and the big screen are two different worlds. He does well in one. He falls flat as a pancake in the other. That movie with Robert Downey Jr. was just painful to watch.

Watching Seinfeld in anything outside of the show "Seinfeld" really shows that Larry David was the genius and the real creator of Seinfeld. Seinfeld is a puddle without Larry David. As are everyone else in that cast...

So it makes sense that Dane cook, kevin hart, and other totally average comedians are so popular.
There are just as many people that "get" a George Carlin as those that "get" carrot top.
Some people can fart in a chair and it's comedic gold for those who also pass gas in chairs and laugh all day about it.
Others listen to really smart wit about society or human nature, and it speaks to them.
If a purple dinosaur singing "I love you" can make tens of millions of dollars...

Kevin Heart.. Genuine. Own material. Self deprecating. Natural storyteller
Dane Cook.. Hack. Stole 90% from Louis CK. Unfunny and maked up for it by moving around a lot. Appeals to teenagers and girls. Girls..! Hence, doesn't need to be funny.
