TMZ Sports has obtained footage of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice dragging his fiancee (who appears to be out cold) out of an elevator in an Atlantic City casino ... moments after cops say they attacked each other on the property.

The footage was shot on February 15th ... right before Rice and his fiancee Janay Palmer were both arrested for assault at the Revel Casino. Cops say they have video which proved both parties attacked each other.

Well, allegedly she spit on him, and he upper cut her...it could have been handled differently...

How much you want to bet that the charges on both will be dropped.

Was it the hit or the Ambien that put her to sleep?  Just trying to work angles for Mr Sharper because he's in far deeper shit.

How can anyone work for a company like TMZ? I dont get it. Imagine spending most of your life reporting on the news of famous people? What a vapid and insipid job. I mean, how can anyone find meaning working for a company like TMZ? Do they really think they are contributing something to humanity? I cant imagine waking up and going to work, and having to write a story about who is getting divorced in hollywood. What a pointless task.

I like how when the Richie Incognito story broke, ESPN had a field day with it and even accused Richie of being a racist, etc without learning the facts.

Yet, not much is mentioned about Darren Sharper's rape case and Ray Rice beating the fuck out of his fiancee.

Racist much ESPN?

Yeah...it's not looking good for Ray Rice and I think this incident gives the Ravens just cause to release him from his contract. But I'd like to see the full footage of him and his wife attacking each other. I'm sure alcohol was involved on both sides. Still waiting on the evidence that he actually 'knocked her out'. A summoms is not hard evidence. For all I know, His fiancee was drunk as piss and passed out dead weight in the elevator. Nevertheless, this is pretty surprising considering Rice's reputation as a good guy and his charitable work with the local Baltimore community.

He's expendable at this point in his career. He can say all he wants that he was injured most of last season but the film doesn't lie. He just doesn't break tackles like he once used to. He's got a lot of tread on his tires dating back to his Rutgers days. Such is the lifespan of an NFL running back. He also fumbles at the worst times during crucial games in the playoffs.

What's the cap hit for releasing him?  Is there video of them actually fighting?  I'm not leaving the purple shaded glasses on, but if it's just the elevator video, that's not damning evidence.  But, where's there's smoke there's fire.

Video surveillance of what? Rice is dragging a drunk skunk out of an elevator. I'm sure that has NEVER been seen on a casino surveillance camera....lol. If there's concrete evidence of her knocking his woman out, I'll shut my mouth.

Guarantee that this issue with Rice won't go anywhere. And it won't lead to a 4 game suspension by the NFL.

The girl should not have spit on him. Period.

He will have the misdemeanor assault charge reduced to "harassment" which is simply a violation. And he will pay a small fine. It will be done with .

She will, for the rest of her life, remember that things can get really bad, really fast when you decide to spit on people (KO'd).

Show me the post where I said Ben was guilty. I simply said he was accused. That's the kind of negative publicity that violates the NFL player conduct code. And it was enough to get him suspended for four games. He put himself in that situation by scoping out naive college girls at seedy dive bars and hiring offduty police bodyguards to keep watch outside of a bathroom.

Being arrested doesn't always imply that there is hard evidence. He was held without bail and released along with his wife. It was likely a drunken domestic situation where his wife acted like a ghetto chickenhead after a lot of drinks. No evidence yet that he knocked her out.

Espn sucks major dick. They always attempt to make a bigger story out of nothing and are a bunch of liberal pukes. If I have to hear one more fucking Michael Sam story I'm going to throw up. Gays have been in the NFL for decades, who cares? I hope the Steelers draft him so him and Palomalo can enjoy a lockerroom 69 suckfest.

You can't be serious about liking Espn. Their commentators are a joke. Bunch of granstanding overactors trying to auditon themselves for a sports show of their own like Kilborn, Patrick, and Olberman did. I bet you have a hard on for Stuart Scott. Boo-yeah!  ::)

BTW..this just in!.....Jason Collins to be signed by the Nets becoming the 1st openly gay NBA player! Here's how he'll help the Nets:
- Great penetrator
 - Superb ball handler
 - Takes it to the hole regularly
 - Thrives in isolated man on man sets
 - Excellent backdoor defender
 - Enjoys to dribble before he shoots
 - Solid stroke from outside
 - Good awareness when double or triple teamed
 - Loves to finish with a facial

I'll stick with my USA today sports or CBS sports.com all day over ESPN. Meltdown over.

Don't even get me started on TMZ. If you follow their website on a regular basis then that's all I need to know about you, Earl.

If you follow their website on a regular basis then that's all I need to know about you, Earl.

yes i love espn, i don't notice nor care about them wanting to further their careers

michael sam is a huge story, the first openly gay football player so obviously they will cover it, the news is only about a week old so why wouldn't they talk about it?  troy is married and might not be a steeler for long

you seem to be an expert on collins...

i don't follow tmz, i get my tmz news from getbig

Guts, Earl look just relax both your teams have a long history of rapists, murderers and wife beaters.

Comparing which is worse the rapist or the wife beater just makes both of the teams look more like shit than they already do...

running backs are no longer keys to a strong offense and good ones can be found throughout the draft or even as free agents

decent quarterbacks don't become free agents

really b/c both of the teams in the superbowl this year had great run games....::)

I agree a rb can be obtained in free agency. A rookie qb isnt going to come in and make a marked difference 99% of the time, a seasoned vet can...

there is a much better transition of tangible talent in the rb and wr position from college to the NFL than in the qb position.

everybody thinks that the game has changed and you now need a mobile qb ::) all these mobile qbs are at best a couple years from not being mobile and at worst one hit away.

the seahawks had a good running game, their defense was their strength

the broncos had peyton set every passing record, you think they got their based on their running game ::)

the last couple super bowl teams didn't have a strong running game, the league is all about passing today and yeah rookie quarterbacks can come in and have a huge impact

just ask the steelers, ravens, falcons, panthers, and the seahawks

No it wont destroy the team. It's a 3 year contract he basically signed. He makes the majority of the money in the first 3 years with the understanding that he restructures in 2015. He'll sign another deal with bonus $ upfront with less salary that will count against the future cap. They just re-signed Suggs to a four year deal that put the Ravens 4.8 million under the cap. That gives them flexbility to re-sign Daryl Smith, franchise tag on Pitta, and re-sign Monroe at LT. Ozzie Newsome knows what he's doing and he's far from done.

Flacco had a shit season because the O-line was dreadful. No running game whatsoever either. He forced a shit ton of throws and was sacked the most times ever in a season for his career. He tried to do too much. A very young WR group and Pitta missed most of the year.

I'll trust the expertise of a two time superbowl winning GM over a biased homer Steeler fan any day of the week. First time the Ravens have missed the playoffs in 6 years. I'm not concerned about the team's future.

Ben still had a decent running game in 2007 if I remember correctly. And they won a superbowl in 2008 with a shit o line? What r u smoking? No team wins a fucking Sb with a shit O-line.

Boldin was entering the final year of his contract and carried a big cap number. I'll admit I shook my head at only getting a 6th round choice in return but with the money freed up they were able to sign Dumervill and Daryl Smith on defense. No GM is perfect. Even the best have made moves that have their fans shaking their heads. I didn't have a problem with letting Boldin go but I did have a problem with getting only a 6th round choice.

I didnt say it was their run games that got them there but to say their run games were not good is stupid.

They had two of the best run games in the season this year. Last years teams both had great run games unless you dont think ray rice and pierce made a good duo or think frank gore and the plethora of other backs the niners had were shit.

Youre exaggerating, yes the league is a pass first league that doesnt mean the run game is an after thought these days.

LMFAO you name a handful of rookie qb's that came in and made a difference and you think that makes your point? Should we name the ones that busted and compare which ones are higher?

Look fact is skills translate better from college to pro in the RB and WR positions. QB's are a bigger crap shoot than rb and wr in terms of drafting. Why not get a big body WR or a RB who you feel can take over for Foster(b/c he isnt going to last the season and is likely on a fast track down hill), pick up a QB in free agency and one later in the draft and develop him?

manziel is an arrogant little shit and I hope he plays seattle so chancelor can welcome him into the NFL properly.

the ravens won a super bowl because flacco played out of his mind, knowshon moreno is not a good back he only played decent this year because peyton had the best season ever which opened up the running game

since 2008 the steelers, saints, giants, ravens, packers and seahawks won the super bowl

only the seahawks can say their running game made a big difference in winning the super bowl, i'm really just basing that on the big run lynch had against the 49ers, he didn't do anything in the super bowl

you don't want to draft a quarterback yet you expect to find a good one in free agency lol then you talk about busts, like a drew brees hits the open market every year

yeah pick up a qb later in the draft maybe that 6th round qb will be tom brady lol

it's a quarterbacks league and to get a good one they are typically 1st round draft picks, for every russel wilson or brady drafted later there are hundreds more you never even heard of, far more than the 1st round busts you talk about

good running backs are found anywhere you should know that considering arians foster was undrafted, what good is a receiver if he doesn't have a quarterback?

Title: NFL athlete & Getbigger - Ray Rice: suspended for 2 games
Post by: Royalty on July 25, 2014, 10:42:08 AM
http://m.espn.go.com/wireless/story?storyId=11262500&brand=espnw

Mina Kimes
 ESPN The Magazine | July 25, 2014

There's no shortage of reasons to condemn the NFL for its pitifully inadequate two-game suspension of Ray Rice, the Baltimore Ravens running back who knocked his fiancée unconscious in a casino elevator in February.

I could write about the hypocrisy of Roger Goodell or the troubling message it sends to American women.

But if there's one lesson we can extract from Rice's suspension, it's that such arguments don't carry much weight with the NFL.

The league's two-game suspension of Ravens star Ray Rice is a joke, and sends a terrible message that the NFL doesn't take domestic violence seriously. Jane McManus

So, instead, let's look at Rice's slight punishment through the green-stained lens Goodell looks through every single day: money.

The NFL's financial success has reached new heights during Roger Goodell's tenure. And further growth is important to the commissioner: In 2010, he told team owners he aims to triple league revenue to $25 billion by 2027. That's more than companies such as Time Warner Cable, Xerox and General Mills made last year.

Goodell's goal is lofty, but reasonable. While many sports and entertainment providers have struggled to gain market share in an increasingly crowded field, the NFL's popularity has surged. Over the past decade, average viewership of prime-time NFL games has increased by 31 percent to 20.3 million, according to Nielsen. In 2013, every network that had broadcast games reported increased viewership. Most weeks, in fact, NFL games aren't just the most-watched sporting events on television -- they're the most watched thing on TV.

The league's success is astounding -- but it can't last forever. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban's doomsday prediction that the "hoggy" league will become oversaturated and implode within 10 years may have been overly dire, but there was a grain of truth to his prophecy. Football isn't a perpetual motion machine; it needs new external sources of energy to fuel its expansion.

As with any business, the NFL has two paths to potential growth. It can diversify its product line -- possible, but unlikely -- or it can go after new markets. Goodell's interest in putting a team in London makes it obvious that the league is pursuing the latter route.

Allison Joyce/Getty Images
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell should have used the Ray Rice suspension as a chance to reach out to the most untapped segment of the football market: women.
Of course, it's always easier to grow at home. The lowest-hanging fruit, American men, may already be plucked, but there are still large swaths of the U.S. that haven't fully embraced football-underpenetrated segments of the market, in business-speak. The largest of those segments is female. The NFL says women make up about 45 percent of its fan base, while research firm Experian Simmons put the number at 36 percent. According to Nielsen, 35 percent of viewers of regular-season games last season were women.

That means women represent a huge growth opportunity. And the NFL knows it. It's why the league runs so many commercials targeting women and sticks pop-up boutiques inside stadiums, stocking them with pink jerseys and tank tops and something called a "Fanicure" nail polish set. Whatever you think of #nailgating, these efforts seem to be working: The NFL says sales of women's apparel have tripled over the past four years.

But marketing has its limits. People try new products for a number of reasons, ranging from quality to price. But brand loyalty, as any Apple stockholder will tell you, is driven by something deeper. Successful companies don't just sell goods and services -- they sell culture. They sell coolness (Nike) and wellness (Whole Foods) and manliness (Budweiser).

Football is no different. Women won't become fans of the NFL because of baby tees or theme nights. They'll embrace the league when they believe its values align with their own.

When the news about Rice broke yesterday, I saw scores of female football fans tweeting expressions of horror and disappointment. Several said they felt like the NFL had turned its back on them. Jets season ticketholder Naomi Lindower tweeted that she was disgusted with the decision.

"I'll always love football, but this just makes me mad," Lindower says. The league's actions, she adds, will make it harder for her to recruit other female fans, including her own daughter. "They'll say, 'Why should I be interested in a sport that doesn't support women?'"

The NFL should ask the same question -- if not for moral reasons, then for financial ones.

What do they want the NFL to do, he wasn't convicted of anything to do with domestic violoence?  All there is is a video of his knocked out fiancee in an elevator. Two games plus a game check, and he won't appeal. Hopefully he's learned from it and moved on. This is why females shouldn't be sports reporters.

Title: Solid post at ESPN.com concerning Ray Rice/Goodell case
Post by: Royalty on September 11, 2014, 06:54:30 AM

"This is so effin ridiculous. N.O.W. is demanding Goodell's head on a platter. The media and public are shaming the NFL. Senators and Congressmen want 'transparency' form the NFL and are making veiled threats because of a 'lack of punishment' and 'failure to recognize the severity' of what Rice did.

Someone please help me here. Last time I checked, it wasn't our employers job to investigate and punish us for criminal acts. Where is the acrimony, outrage and criticism for the police and prosecutors for a lack of punishment? Why are police sharing evidence from a criminal case with the NFL in the first place? The 2-game ban might have been inadequate, but it was actually a MUCH harsher penalty than he received from the criminal justice system.

If Goodell's job is on the line, then shouldn't the jobs of prosecutors and judges be on the line even more? Or does the government get a pass as always?"

LOL Tommy.

You better watch out, Lobsta is going to cry to Ron saying you are a racist and you'll be put in timeout, even if you were stating the truth.

I'm sure Mr. Rice's wife is thrilled with the situation now.

I mean, Mr. Rice has lots of job skills that he can use to earn a similar salary in other fields of the private sector.

How is this harsh punishment for Mr. Rice going to effect their home life?  If he was mad before, imagine how mad he is now.

I love watching ESPN in the AM or as I drive... but can't stomach this Ray Rice drama.

"I don't care if a woman slaps you 1000 times, you do not lay a finger on her" - Mike & Mike.

Look, yes, you don't hit a woman.  But there are only so many times a person can be slapped or SPAT UPON before he puts his hands up to stop it.  Yes, he punched her, which is a huge over-reaction.

He backed into a corner to get away from her.  She slapped and lunged at him.  He should have NOT punched her, but restraining her would have been a perfectly reasonable reaction to prevent him from seeing a broken nose.  She had some muscle on her, and yes, a broken nose or blinded eye could easily have happened with her slapping him repeatedly.

I think it'd be nice to really create EQUALITY here.  Charge them both.  Charge her with assault for the multiple slaps/spits, then charge him with assault for using his NFL strength to punch a human being that hard.  Let them both sit in jail for 30 days.  And THEN let them out and see if EITHER of them gets violent like that again.

The way I see it, that'd stop LOTS of domestic violence.  Many dudes would NEVER hit a woman - until the woman hits/spits on them over and over - and then they're human, they often lose it and react.  BOTH parties should know that if they swing first, or they over-react, they do jail time.

Rice had six successful seasons in the NFL before this.  That's DOUBLE what most NFL players average.  He's earned almost 40 mil in the NFL and is worth over 20 mil.  He will be just fine.  Give most people a million, and they can live humbly off the interest forever.  Give a family 20 million, they can enjoy it for 100 years, if responsible.

It isn't so much that he knocked her out, it's that he didn't give a shit that he did.  That speaks to the darkness of his soul.

America cares more about the NFL than it does about the for-profit 'justice' system.  Goodell being excoriated publicly does a lot more to shine a light on the core issue than would have occurred if only the prosecutors were being called out.

He's incredibly stupid to keep talking to the media and to be holding these "press conferences" where he shows himself to basically be a retarded ghetto narcissist. I don't blame him, as he obviously doesn't know better - but his lawyer / agent / managers should be fired for allowing him to keep opening his mouth. Maybe they all bailed early?

I'd be shocked if he's saved any money, isn't heavily in debt, and actually has much net worth at all. He's probably done more than just drink at the casinos.
