 ???

When you were wrestling, were the wrestlers abusing themselves before and after fights with pain killers and drugs?

i heard an interview from Curt Angle or was it Sting  ??? on radio ,

anyways

dudes said Wrestling is comparable to a circus , they have to wrestle or they dont get paid not many have contracts , most get paid by the event.

He said that due to injuries in the ring, they take lots of pain killers to perform night after night or they dont see a paycheck, due to the pain killer they take it numbs them and slows them down, so they do alot of coke to get amped before a match, and after the match back to the pain killers and hit the road to the next show, along they way they drink heavily most are alcoholics due to never being at home and having wife/family issues at home

Not to mention Vince would fine anyone that looked like weak shit, he wanted all his Wrestlers to be bigger then life, so it was mandatory they were on Steroids

Loads of Painkillers + Steriods + Coke + Booze = Heart attack

Yep, working a match is on par with being in a 30mph car accident so they use it to compensate.  I think wrestlers are a lot more healthier now than usual with weight training, dieting, and access to medical services except for those like Mabel whose gimmick was to be a giant fat fuck.

There is an increase in steroid use from wrestlers due to having to maintain peak performance to take advantage of lucrative contracts.  Lot of people will join the dead pool soon

I understand why guys take all the pills. They're travel schedule is brutal.

My dad took a bump of the top turnbuckle and cracked his elbow. He was taken to the hospital and out into a cast. When he left he cut it off. Hd knew he couldn't work like that and if he wasn't working he wouldn't get paid, which also might mean losing your spot to someone else.

The only difference between now and then is the pill were not around back then.

When he died we found two  record books he kept, one from the 60's and one from the 70s. He was on the road 300 days both years.

This. They cleaned shit up a lot over the last 5-8 years though I'm pretty sure. The amounts of guys doing all those drugs has dwindled.

Uppers to get up at noon, along with painkillers so they can move around and hit the gym.
Smoke weed on the way to the gym.

Back to hotel, get ready for match and head to the venue doing more painkillers.

After match, head out, drink all night, do pills, coke, weed, etc.
Swallow down some sleeping pilld and pain killers just to get to sleep...

Next day.. start over...
