You need to be able to spell "salary" and "surveyor" to qualify as a surveyor.

Not a bad profession... if your in the office managing the projects. The guys out in the field / outdoors make a decent living.  Not that labor intensive.  I know a little about the profession cause I'm a Project manager and over see our crews.  Working on getting my PLS right now.

You would pull about 80,0000 per year here in texas if you can put in 50 hrs a week, plus the cost of living is about 20% below the national avg and there's no state tax so that 80 gs is a lot more than you think

Get in with a company that builds landfills. They pay well because they travel, and if you're not from the US anyway, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do that.

IMO, it's like most industries... if you work hard, you're fairly bright, and you don't fall apart due to women, wine, or just being crazy, you'll advance fast, make a good living and retire comfortably.

Same in just about any industry.  I mean, you can be a janitor... and if you're not a stoner, insanely lazy, crazy, etc, in 5 years you can advance and manage a team then start your own thing and make a solid living.

There are surveyors that are millionaires, and some that are living in a trailer late on their rent (I know cause I used to live next door to one).

If you don't mind working outdoors in sometimes shitty conditions and are fairly smart then you're meant for it. Learn to use total station (if you don't already know) and get efficient with it you'll move up fast.

Why be a dick? Guy sounds like he just wants to better his lot in life. My guess is that you are a sad lil broke boy. Or maybe you're a lazy ass too chickenshit to be paid based on your production/profitability..?
