That would be a dumb decision, his structure is made for 212.

Most of the "professional" bodybuilders carry way more mass than is appropriate for their structure. Look at the lil goblin branch warren. The guy is a midget who wouldn't weigh more than a buck fifty without drugs.

IMO, Kai and even Phil with his small frame carry it well, but I agree about Branch. He looked way better years ago, esp around 2005.

Flex Lewis is damn well lucky they came up with the idea of having 212s a few years ago - he's got a great physique in his own right but he wouldn't have made any money out of bodybuilding whatsoever if he'd been forced to compete in every open division contest.

I agree with your assessment. Branch looked way better as an amateur.

with 3 inch more height he would be able to go on all the rides at Disneyland.
-
Shouldn't make a difference what so ever. Whoever believes this has skewed sense of reality.

kai or phil would smoke flex lewis standing along with open lineup he gets lost bigtime if he is smart he will stay at 212
-
Wasnt there a time when David Henry was competing not in the 212 and did decently in the lineup?
-
He didn't even win the 212 class
Henry won hands down
But of cousrse flex has the big contract and "momentum"

Yes, but he's top 5 material. Unless he comes in looking like he did this weekend.

Yes.
In 2005, Henry won the Olympia Wildcard contest, a last-minute contest held at the Olympia weekend, with the winner qualifying for the 2005 Mr. Olympia.
Remember that when they first came up with the 202 showdown, David Henry won it and competed in the Olympia that same weekend. Kevin English competed in both shows, too.
When the NY Pro debuted its 202 show, English won it and placed second to Kai Greene. I think he actually pocketed more cash that Greene, as a result.
Silvio Samuel won a 210-and-under show and won the open show at the same contest. And, Flex Lewis placed second to Branch Warren

So there was a time when these guys were competing in "regular" (not the 212) lineups and doing decently. I think David Henry could definitely do decently not in the 212. Not too sure about Flex. I prefer Henrys physique over Flex.

You have to remember the Shawn Rays who didn't compete over 200 lbs until the late 90s.
Labrada never competed at 200 lbs. Yet, he placed second at the Olympia twice.
And let's not forget about Lee Priest, who had much success at just over 200.
It's the Olympia rules that keep them from competing in both open and 202/212 shows. The 212s will get more publicity now, with the Ms. International gone and the Ms. Olympia on life support.
