Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) declared Friday that "we are all Ukrainians" in response to the news that Russia had taken over parts of Ukrainian Crimea.
"We are all Ukrainians," McCain said in an interview with TIME magazine published Friday. The comments came ahead of President Barack Obama's announcement that he would address the events.
McCain said that Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks "this is a chess match reminiscent of the Cold War and we need to realize that and act accordingly." The senior senator from Arizona added that that didn't mean he foresaw "a conflict with Russia, but we need to take certain measures that would convince Putin that there is a very high cost to actions that he is taking now."

If John McCain was a better soldier he wouldn't have spent 5 years in the tank. Seems like the last guy you'd want strategizing war plans. Plus, he probably tops Lindsay Graham.

Graham and McCain are two of the worst IMO

PPP Poll: John McCain Is The Least Popular Senator In The Country
Source: TPM
DYLAN SCOTT – MARCH 6, 2014, 1:41 PM EST
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is the least popular senator in the United States with his constituents, according to a new poll.
Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling found that 30 percent of Arizonans approve of McCain's job performance while 54 percent disapprove -- the worst net approval in the country, according to the firm's tracking of approval ratings for senators.
McCain is almost equally unpopular with Republicans (35 percent approve; 55 percent disapprove), Democrats (29 percent-53 percent) and independents (25 percent-55 percent). In hypothetical 2016 reelection match-ups, McCain trails both former Surgeon General Richard Carmona, who ran against McCain's junior colleague Jeff Flake in 2012, and former Rep. Gabby Giffords.
The poll, conducted from Feb. 28 to March 2, surveyed 870 Arizona voters. It has a margin of error of 4.9 percentage points.
