How do you guys do your dumbbell lunges? I have done both ways, where I lunge out as far as possible, and where I lunge so that my knee touches parallel to the heel of my forward foot. Do any of you guys have preferences, and have you noticed a difference? Or, do you use the barbell?

I do this exercise.
I think long steps with them are asking for a hamstring strain, though.

both and I use 45 lb plate in hands and go up /down few times flight steps..

Do you skip steps then, so that you can get down a bit lower in the position? (no homo)

I actually did dumbell lunges this morning after squats the sets where so hard i had to be sitting down between sets.

my forearms burn out before my legs ??? so i rather just use the barbell

Walking lunges with a barbell on your back or carrying dumbells is great exercise to bring out that outer quad sweep. Do them for 3 months and I guarantee you'll notice a significant difference.
They are also hard as FUCK if you do them after squats. Burns hella cals.

No hype or bullshit... it's a great exercise. If you don't do them you should.
I remember back in the day first encorprating them into my workouts after seeing Big Ron do them. I gave them a chance and became a believer.
Outer quad sweep is sexy as hell.

no i do...just thought you were posting shit everyone already knew. Still stand by my statement that 1 legged squats are better than lunges.

By now you think everyone would but if you ever go to the gym... even with guys who take leg day seriously... how often do you see people do walking lunges? Rarely. Its mostly chicks who do it and even then it's not all that common.
