Title: Shoulder Dislocations
Post by: visualizeperfection on March 17, 2014, 06:35:17 PM
How many have you guys have dealt with them?

I have had one full dislocation requiring a trip to the ER (a pretty grizzly sight) and 2 sublexes in the other shoulder.

They arent effected at all during lifting. Only when doing things requiring funny angles and jerky movements, the most recent happened while throwing a football too hard.

Any advice? Or is surgery the only real option?

Try to strengthen your rotator cuff muscles that hold the ball in the socket. The more the shoulder dislocates the easier it is to happen again. So don't do anything stupid until u get them more stable.

I was contemplating investing in gh.

do you think it would have application with this kind of injury?

Not really. Any steroid that would make u stronger would help, but isn't necessary.

No man-Surgery will be the only option.  I was told to do all the required strength building exercises before going under the knife which I did.  But once I started throwing my shoulder out throwing a football(like you) I said fuck it.

It's been over ten years since the surgery and it hasn't popped out yet.  Best thing I could have done.

If it's dislocated it's going to be painful to externally rotate. Think sub-scap (shoulder girdle) rather than direct isolation. But he said he has full separation which usually means surgery. He can strengthen FOR the surgery but it's not going to take place of it.

It is not still dislocated. I am sure they put it back in place. I have seen guys dislocate and not need surgery. Now if it become recurrent then u need surgery.

I fully dislocated it about a year and a half ago, boxing. Completely out. Shoulder about three inches lower than collar bone, grotesque looking, loud pop after replacing it. Extremely painful. Probably worst pain in my life.

I just dont want to have to have a long recovery time and shrink up and what not.

What exercises strengthen the rotator cuff?

I have no idea.

I had it put back in and never went back for an MRI.

It did heal quickly, back to normal within a week I would say.

The ER dr. said its fortunate that I was muscular, I dont know if he was just schmoeing or if there is anything to that.

Would I know without a shadow of doubt that it was torn?

You'd know if the labrum was injured.

Ok cool.

its actually the opposite shoulder that has had multiple sublex's.

I am weary to do certain shit and people bust my balls, the majority of people dont know what its like to have recurring injuries from leading an athletic life.

Hey Coach is that your gym in HB?

Invest in gh from a pharmacy. It works.

Helped heal my right bicep and left delt.

Burned a bit of fat, skin became softer.

Im now kind of thinking Im going to take the gh route, but either post surgery or during a rehab, what ever route the sports doc suggests.

nah man this only maks the pain.

best advice is to never overdo it in training and it its bad enough, only surgery will fix things.

im not even talkng about mine, frend has partialy torn rotato cuff, hes been told this will never ever heal together entirely.

then theres cortisol, i now understand how it works, but if one wants to keep training, the negatives waaaaaay outweigh the positives.
