???

It is a geopolitically strategic location; a bridge into Europe with a whole lot of pipelines.
It has nothing to do with promises. The USA doesn't give two poops about keeping promises.

Similarly to the Phillipines. The Phillipines was only important to the USA because of it's location.
That's why the USA propped up & supported that thieving wretch Ferdinand Marcos for so long.

we like to argue missing planes and obama/romney stuff...

but russia just took over another country, it's a HUGELY bad thing...

and sadly, many americans seem to SUPPORT it because "Hey, it makes obama look bad, so it must be good!"

It's a terrible mindset.  it's entirely okay to say "Obama sucks, word prez ever.... BUT it's a horrible thing that russia can just walk into another country and take over, run fake elections, and suddenly gain a huge strategic advantage.

OR - We can wait until Russia decides to "take over" Mexico.  See how the obama haters feel then.  Will they keep calling Putin a "real leader" as he sets up missile silos 40 feet from the Arizona and TX borders?

A lot of people got really stupid on this issue.  Just because you hate rat poison doesn't mean you have to enjoy arsenic for breakfast, ya know?

You don't feel Crimeans have the right to secedes from Ukraine, or you don't think the referendum vote was legitimate?

False - the problem is that we are a nation on INTENTIONAL steep decline due to who is in office this last 6 years who you voted for 2 x over.  Its not good that Russia china iran etc are all on the incline - but we voted for our country to become a joke 2x over.

This was warned to you many many many many times and you and the other refused to accept it because you cant help your cultish devotion to liberalism.  Its a sickness and sadly the nation suffers as a result.

The Crimea has many exploitable assets but that is not why this issue matters.  It matters because it demonstrates the United States waning power and it signals the shifting away from US dictated policy.

I don't see it as our waning power.

We didn't have any power in 2008 or in 1980.  when it comes to Russia and its close neighbors, they are going to do what they want.  Not much we can do to stop it, short of war.  And that's bad for the global economy. lol

It doesnt matter/affect america at all. It has nothing to do with us.

That said, it only 'matters' in the sense that it makes obama, kerry and all their nanny state friends look really stupid and weak on a global stage as they throw tantrums telling Putin 'hey you cant do that!!' And he does it anyway, looks them in the eye and sayd 'what are you gonna do about it?' as he walks away laughing. ;D

Obama also looks like a fool for making it personal w putin and trying to say shit about him in interviews and then putin craps all over Obama's empty threats.

Of course I would

BINGO!!!!

If US power wasn't on the decline, Ukrainians would've voted to have closer ties to the EU and NOT Russia
If US power wasn't on the decline, they would not have lost control of the neo nazi anti-Semitic nationalists they used to foment the uprising. If US power wasn't on the decline, Crimeans would not have voted an overwhelming 97% to secede from Ukraine, and join Russia. If US power wasn't on the decline, India would have toes the line and sided with NATO instead of saying Russia has a legitimate interest in the Ukraine. We have entered a Post American century.

Actually the rest of the world is laughing at the theatrical drama on display, ...and the fools who keep arguing within the LEFT/RIGHT paradigm too stupid to realize the people on both the left & the right, are in fact allies, and their real enemies are pulling their strings... and they're fighting each other instead of uniting and addressing the real challenges in front of them, and working towards the solutions.

What if "they"'re allowing this to happen right now since the EU is falling apart in an effort to trick Europeans into uniting against a common threat?

Putin and Lavrov are polished diplomats.  Obama and Kerry are imbeciles with inflated egos, who only know how to make threats and inflame situations.
