 :'(  elmo was one of those guys who kept getting overlooked in the aau mr america contest. he first entered in 1959 and came in sixth subsequent attempts saw his placing drop every year  to 10 th.  in 1965 he entered the nabba mr universe and won both the short class and overall title against a strong field including mister russian bear  also mr america aau titleholder val vlasieff. his known contest career spanned from 1952 mr new york state all the way to 1976.
