Ronnie was at his best in 1996......my personal opinion.
I saw him guest pose in 96 and was in awe over his hamstring development.

Guy in the middle looked better than Ronnie did there. Seems like Ronnie was a bit doughy back then. I've seen pics of him from that time where he was much leaner (under 230 pounds).

How can you say that? Compare his 1996 Mr. Olympia physique to his 1998 Mr. Olympia physique. Night and day. I think you're judgment is clouded because you saw him in person in 1996 and so you're biased to that year, when in reality, Ronnie was improving all the time from the early 90's until he hit his stride in the late 90's.

I think I'm with you on this one. I used to have Ronnie as the best bb in the world both that year and 1997. People would laugh cause Ronnie wasn't even top six at that time.

I think I'm with you on this one. I used to have Ronnie as the best bb in the world both that year and 1997. People would laugh cause Ronnie wasn't even top six at that time.
Ronnie did have BIG legs and big arms in 1995-1997, but he lacked detail and refinement. He wasn't cut back then. That came in 1998 and the change was definitely noticeable and btw, people WERE talking about him in the mid-90's and he was a huge threat (be it an underdog) in 1998 (PRE-Mr. Olympia). He upped his bodyweight from 230-235 pounds (mid 90's) to 250 pounds and he was making a name for himself, but it wasn't until 1998 that he finally knew how to dial it in for the day of the show and come in HUGE AND ripped and ditch the excess fluid he had carried on stage in 1996/1997.

Yup - good assesment.
I saw Coleman at the 96 Olympia. Yes, he looked great, but he got totally waxed by Yates. He narrowed that gap significantly in the later years.
98/99 and some of the later years destroyed 96 Coleman.

Met him at expo last year and he looked like shit (for him---Ronnie, still looked obviously better than anyone around there or on here for that matter). Huge waist and lack freaky arms/lats...
