Title: Does your gym have Hoist machines?
Post by: calfzilla on April 10, 2014, 03:20:40 AM
Mine has them and I'm really starting to like them. Especially for dips and shoulder press.

I trained 2 Weeks ago in Goldīs Gym Hurghada/Egypt. They have a lot of hoist machines. I would say it depends what machine you use, and also when in your whole training session.
For example i did some sets on the preacher-curl machine. But i wondered how easy the machine "where going". Could do sets of 8-10 reps with 95 kg/210 lbs. on each side of the machine (total load 420 lbs for biceps-curls.....so itīs clear that some machines only bring a certain % of the resistance to your muscles....

[But for a + 50 year old man like me a good choice, cause the risk of injury seems to be very low with that equipment. But again, use it in between, or at the end of my workouts...

I am 48 and still like a good old preacher bench with a straight bar. reverse curls on the preacher with an ez bar for forearms.

That Golds gym looks like a casino, pathetic..

Most arm machines fuck with your biomechanics. You can't go wrong with free weights 8)

That's a beautiful Egyptian gym.

Don't think I would ever do a workout entirely of Hoist but there are some I really like for warming up or finishing with. Usually use the tricep dip machine and the shoulder press. Chest press on occasion.
