How does a torn pec lead to bruising like that? I mean, the bruising is across the whole top part of his upper body.

The blood from the torn muscle just spills away from the site of injury. There is nowhere for it to bleed out through the skin so it just spreads under it. I suppose if you punctured the skin you could drain away a lot of the blood but that's probably not a great idea...

If he was lifting raw,it would have been more in tune with his true power which could have avoided the injury.
