Post by: buffbodz on January 23, 2006, 08:20:24 AM
I just herd that tomato's, cucumbers, egg plant and even string beans are not vegtables.  Their fruits.  And all these years I thought........Oh well It's Monday morning and I'm slowly catching up.

meh, not really.  biologically these may be classified as fruits based on how they reproduce...that is to say, technically these things are seed pods.  These seeds don't possess the bran and endosperm and stuff like that as found in grains, etc.

Anyways- while cucumbers and string beans are relatively sugary compared to some veggies, they're really quite healthy.  We all know the benefits of tomatoes.  Don't cut these things out of your diet, especially if you like them, unless you're a month out of a contest.

right, they're a great "filler" at meals.  You usually adapt to large meals when you're bulking, and when it comes diet time, two chicken breasts and a side of broccoli seems lame.  If you mix up some chopped cucumbers and tomatoes with a little EVOO and vinegar, salt and pepper, you've got a healthy addition to your meal.
