Kidney failure, liver scarring, death
Blah blah blah
Same in every thread
How nice of you to be concerned with the health of extreme bodybuilders. We get it.
Take up tennis or something?

Oh no the dilemma!
I guess mediocrity amongst fellow weight lifters will have to suffice!
What to do about the internal battle of what could have been?
Mediocrity is a bitch especially if one develops a passion.

Ok as an amateur, but if you get your pro card, things get tough.

Wanting to use steroids and get big is cool from 18-28.
If you're in you're 30s and 40s and still want to do that as a hobby, you have mental problems. Not referring to cruising on test here. I mean running heavy cycles.

Running dick first into the corner of a table tennis table is a familiar and horrible pain from my youth. Scratch that off the list.
Badminton can be scratched too:

Yep....as a user myself I admit it. I tried to come off and always failed, managed without for 6 months, 8mths...etc then always back on. Now I keep doses as low as I can, still get grief from friends on 2g prompting me to join them in the get huge quest.

Wow that's too bad for those with a passion for the iron in that age bracket.
I guess they should become at peace with mediocrity.
How to deal with dying inside not from internal organ failure but rather stewing on holding back on your passion?
What about posting on a bodybuilding forum in your 30s and 40s is that ok with you?
I hope it's mentally sound.

Do you mean that having larger muscles, deems you as a more superior person than a man with less musculature?

If one has a desire to build large muscles and be recognised for the feat. Then in that persons head obviously it would on some level. However there are plenty of defensive mechanisms to quiet the pains of defeat. Of which so many are evident on getbig.

I'm not 30 yet so I'll clue you in when I get there. Hopefully I won't last here that long, though.
And yes, those guys are fucking psychos. It's why when they quit the lifestyle, they all die of overdoses (DeMayo), go broke and sick (Matarazzo, Prince, Wheeler, Mohammed, etc.) or linger around the sidelines of the sport like creepy HS dropouts who never leave the school grounds (Ray, Bob Chick, Palumbo, etc.). It's a slimy creepy industry that attracts the lowest scum.

Yes they are, EPO, GH, blood transfusions, stimulants, and so on... Probably the sport with the most laughable testing and where omerta reign supreme...

Do you realize that these guys make a living out of having larger than average muscles?
That's like someone making a career out of having longer hair than average or wider feet than average. It's just a piece of meat with veins in it, man.

I qualified that post by saying guys on light cycles off half the year aren't included in the mix. But they do have some image issues. At least they're not afraid to challenge nature to get 'round them.

If you were to ask me the tragic stories of most people in high level bodybuilding has more to do with the nature of humanity. The desire to dominate others at any cost, exacerbated of course by Western culture. The psychos you speak of, where victim of their own psychopathic pursuits of dominance.
Why is it we rarely/if ever see those encountering health issues from bodybuilding speak out? To preach moderation and consideration to health. Is that indicative of the psycho mentality? In fact, Derek until his last days on Earth put his health issues down to having unbridled high blood pressure for too long. At the same time downplaying the role of steroids.

Because these guys are extremists by nature. They simply choose to channel it through the pursuit of extreme body modification for competitive purposes. Outside the sport, few are humble, 'normal' guys. They don't end well because they have to harness their imbalanced impulses into another arena, and there isn't much out there that compares to their bodybuilding lifestyle. Most can't just start a company or join a major sports team to compensate. They end up with restless energy but can't use it for muscle-building anymore because their joints or receptors are shot, or they're out of money or got dropped by their sponsor. I don't envy those guys, honestly. They have it rough when the fun's over.
The fact that many are in denial about their health problems or the causes of them is part of not wanting to criticize the one thing they gave their life to. If you work 20 years in sales for a car company, you don't want that to have been for nothing. So you tend to stick to sales even if it isn't paying the bills anymore.
-
Another point.
If the people of getbig where actually concerned about moderation in bodybuilding this is hardly the place to do it. Most here are aware of the fruitless pursuit of muscle at all costs. It's those on places like bodybuilding.com who have an air of naivety to their awareness in bodybuilding. It is from this, all I can see is a circular masturbation, if you will, of their own defensives when presented with superiority in the field of bodybuilding.
