Most people think the Ideal body for a guy is at least 5' 9." It seems that the shorter guys in pro contests never get above 3rd place unless the competition is weak (shawn ray, lee priest, dexter jackson). Is that fair?
-
I don't feel bad for yall.
You have a nice advantage when it comes to benching. >:(
-
That's a strange argument because taller guys are naturally stronger than shorter guys so tall guys have the advantage in that regard (which is more important, imo).
-
i hate short bodybuilders.
-
5'9" is short.

Once again i disagree
-
No they dont
they move the bar the least distance.. so yeah i guess in theory it takes less for them to be stronger.
-
the vast majority of the pros are short
-
Short?

Franco Columbu is 5'5" & took the Mr. Olympia competition.
-
YUP short is the way to go! gotta love it! 5 lbs of muscle on my frame looks much better than 5 lbs on a 6' guy! imo.
-
In pro b.b, If you're under 5'8" ............
You haven't step on stage and you're losing a lot of points allready.
Sad but true

well dexter is the 05 arnold champ. in general i agree shorter bb's do get shafted.
im not so sure about your comment about taller guys being stronger than shorter guys.

what're you stupid? short guys have a definite advantage in the squat, benchpress and other lifts. not only do they have to push a shorter distance, their builds are more mechanically optimal.
-
bodybuilding is all about genetics, it is unfortunate that some cant develop their muscles as easy as others and its unfortunate that some people are not as tall as others.
in both cases its tough luck but that is the way bodybuilding is. short guys dont look as impressive as a taller guy with the same degree of muscularity
-
I would have to say as a person 6' or over that short BBs can get big much easier then taller people which gives them somwhat of an advantage and why lower weight classes are much more competitive but on the other side a tall guy looks much more impressive when he fills in his frame unless your comparing seperate pics but in real life or side by side the taller guy almost always has an advantage.
-
5'10-5'11 is the ideal BB height

But taller guys have more potential. Do you see 5ft 5" guys in World's strongest man?? No. They are all 5' 10" and taller.

I am still getting over Lee Preist ever beating Cormier. ???

Same here, even if he had him slightly in conditioning he was no where close in any other criteria of BBing maybe a tossup on muscularity but thats a maybe.

The fans had a role in that. Lee was in his home country. Haven't you realized that all pro bb contests are fixed?

I prefer "heavily Influenced"
-
Yeah short bodybuilders have it tough, but so do really short football players, really short basketball players, and really short dudes in the workplace.
Life's not fair.
-
i like my height and i anit near 6'
-
It takes a lot less time (years of training) to fill up a 5'7 frame then it does a 6, 6"1 frame.
Also taller guys can't get that really thick stocky look unless we balloon up to 300+lbs.
