A Second World War veteran who helped found the Anti-Apartheid Movement died after being knocked to the ground by a man who accused him of making a racist remark, a court has heard.
Murray Wrobel, an intelligence linguist in a clandestine unit known as “Churchill’s Secret Army”, was 91 when he was shoved over by Marcus Jean after complaining that his bicycle was blocking a trolley rack outside a supermarket, it is alleged.
Jean, 31, is accused of hurling a tirade of abuse at the pensioner, telling him: “You and your kind should have been dead a long time ago.”

Confusing syntax but you are saying there are significant differences?
I agree that there are. Some stereotypes are misguided or plain wrong, others are, for cultural or racial reasons, fairly accurate. In general blacks have big cocks and make good athletes, asians study hard and prefer maths/science and whites are good leaders. Say the first two, noone blinks an eye, say the latter and you're degrading other races.
@Bradistani, I know he played race card at the time, but it is hard to say someone was racist when they campaigned for black rights.

The rest of the world bullied South Africa relentlessly until they were forced to turn the country their ancestors built over to black Africans?
Was there more at play here? Mineral rights?

There were blacks used as manual laborers. Other than that, the country was mostly empty when the Dutch came in.

How they treated black people was wrong, there was no opportunity for social mobility and discriminatory laws. The problem is it has now gone to the other extreme. Apartheid SA still used a model based on the British legal system that provided courts with integrity. Mandela was a terrorist, plain and simple, but an impartial court decided not to execute him despite him being about to plant bombs. The new leaders don't recognise that some systems in place should have survived the transition and have instead turned SA into just another despotic and corrupt African regime with massive inequality and poverty, just that now the white suffer poverty and discrimination too.

A book claiming that genetics lies behind the rise of Western civilisation has been denounced as "racist" by some scientists.
A Troublesome Inheritance by science writer Nicholas Wade says that there is mounting evidence of genetic variations within humanity, and this these variations can have cultural and civilisational impacts, the Times reports.
Mr Wade, who wrote for the New York Times for 30 years before retiring two years ago, also says that human evolution continues to this day, rather than stopping shortly after stone age, as previously thought.
"New analyses of the human genome have established that human evolution has been recent, copious, and regional," he writes.
Examples of this change include lactose intolerance and the ability to live at high altitudes or cold climates.
Although this part of the book has been relatively well received, his claims that there are genetic differences in terms of intelligence and behaviour, and that human history can be explained partly by genetics, have caused unease among some people.
For example, Wade says that evidence from surname records shows that rich, entrepreneurial Europeans out-bred less able citizens during the Middle Ages, thus ensuring that Europe became more creative than other parts of the world.
This eventually led to the Industrial Revolution, which laid the foundations for the modern world. "The rise of the West is an event not just in history but also in human evolution," Wade writes.
Wade also writes that it was thanks to genetics that South Korea was able to heavily industrialise after the Second World War. He says that the genetic make-up of Koreans made them value hard-work, education, discipline and investment. Meanwhile, Ghana, which had a similar economy at the end of the Second World War, stagnated.

I think it was mainly to get access to the minerals and natural resources.

It actually backfired because the government can't really stop the striking workers. The Marikana Massacre didn't achieve anything.

Just a fucked country. A few dynasties will survive, foreign companies and a few South Africans will make a fortune from the mineral wealth, politicians will continue to fuck country while stealing public money and townships will grow, bloated by the addition of the white poor.
Look at what the Arabs have managed with mineral wealth. Still mostly shitholes but at least they aren't known for crime, tribal warfare and squandering money.
