Mike Kats was an ugly mis-placed moron.

Don't even know what his weird ass was doing in that movie. Had the posture of some kind of inbred.

"The first part of the film documents the life of Mike Katz, a hopeful for the title of Mr. Universe.

Katz's being bullied in his youth for being Jewish and wearing glasses spurred him to become a pro football player; when his career with the New York Jets was ended by a leg injury, Katz became a bodybuilder.

His psychological balance is thrown off by a prank by fellow contender Ken Waller, who steals Katz's lucky shirt before the competition.

Waller wins Mr. Universe, and Katz comes in fourth. Fighting back tears, he cheerfully appraises the situation before deciding to call home and check up on his wife and children."

The movie's real stars were Arnold, Franco, Ed and Lou... too bad for Serge. He could have had more of an impact ~

And once again, just for a "behind-the-scenes" moment of trivia: Franco's role was originally intended for Ed. It's just that Ed had his priorities on the set...'elsewhere' ~ and he still talks about it today.

At least the actual book features Ed on the cover and gets more in depth with Ed himself.

Ed will be 81 very soon... my, my, my how time flies ~ and Ed STILL has his priorities in the EXACT SAME PLACE!!!!

"Gimme a Kit Kat!!!"

Katz was in the movie because he was a very good bodybuilder. And it's long been established that the whole "blue t-shirt" thing was staged.

Katz was in the film because it showed that bbing was a revenge against life, without bbing his frustration could ended in a Columbine.

Katz was in the film because it showed that bbing was a revenge against life, without bbing his frustration could ended in a Columbine.

He being in the film was crucial to show how the bodybuilder - who, let's say "isn't at the top" - fares in life.

Firstly he is an amateur and in this film he embodies the narcissism and major insecurity that gets most people into the sport, and which the industry thrives on.

He went into the sport because he hated himself and was socially outcast. Arnold, Serge, Louie and Corney didn't really represent the average joe in the "sport".

Katz was in the movie because he was a very good bodybuilder. And it's long been established that the whole "blue t-shirt" thing was staged.

Part of it was. Waller his Katz's T-shirt. But it was a spur-of-the-moment thing. After the film, they filmed the football scene where Waller schemes with Robby and that other guy that he's going to hide Katz's T-Shirt, after ripping the guy's physique.

His arms aren't big enough to match his chest; his thighs are too big for his calves. He hits one pose. And from that, he looks like a big spider!

I liked Mike Katz.  He wasn't quite as balanced as Waller but he was no slouch.

katz looked good kind of just standing and looked awesome in the training scenes in PI.
When he posed it showed the weaknesses in his physique, lat spread was all wonky and weird, double biceps  he was lopsided, best pose was mm.
He kind of looked like arnold all shopped out of proportion

Like someone said before that whole tee shirt thing was staged. Waller use to say how mad they were at him for that fictional film nonsense. Katz was the biggest bodybuilder I have seen in real life. He was off season and just huge. To play in the NFL you have to be an animal and he was. He got injured if I got the story right the year before the Jets won Super Bowl lll. Imagine he could have been Mr. America with a Super Bowl ring. He seems like a decent guy.
