They're kidding us, right?
-
As one of those women suffering really bad of those monthly agonies, I would say no. Just a sick day is enough, no special treatments* please. The pain and mood swings are bad enough, don't need belittling from my employer/collegues added.
* unless the treatment consists of a bucket of ice cream, a roll of chocolate chip cookies and a hot bottle.
-
As one of those women suffering really bad of those monthly agonies,
Uncle Junior....stop it, you're pushing the gimmick boundaries too far now.

Good idea they're a fucking nuisance on rag week.

Sigh... no gimmick. Ask bigmc, if you still don't believe me.

Women shouldn't even be in the workforce it's a fuckin joke working with them. Nothing but a liablilty.
-
yes they deserve it... oh and income equality too... ::)
-

I agree. I've worked with many and they all were experts at playing the system.
In the ridiculous PC world we live in now, companies are basically forced by law to maintain equal ratios of men and women.
Sorry ladies, you are NOT equal with men and will NEVER be equal.
-
What about paid leave for bodybuilders? There may be days where we dont want to miss our anabolic window, especially those days we train weaker body parts. We may need a day off here and there in order to stay home and consume all of our macronutrients.
-

Shutup, lactic acid. You don't even know that you are actually potassium ions.
& I agree with bertha, no need for extra days. I've missed a FINAL project in school due to extreme women problems (cramps, vomiting, couldn't get out of bed), so I understand that sometimes things get so severe that you simply can't leave your home. In that case, a sick day will do. Plus nobody needs to know about my menstrual cycle.

Fuck that.....If I can go to work hungover so bad my hair hurts, you can get your fat ass out of bed over a little bit of cramps once a month.

should stay at home, raise children and make dinner for their man when he gets home from his hard work, but no, something went terribly wrong

A hangover is a result of your own bad choice, menstrual problems are not. And the levels of pain are incomparable.

if you still have your period than your not that seriously into fitness and BB, not even remotely ready to die for us like the rest of the ''girls'' that do battle on stage in their sub 8% BF, your getbig membership should be revoked immediately
-

Yet those problems are preventable if you wanna go that route

Bullshit....you want equality, shut your cawkcatcher, get out of bed, and do your job without all the drama.
(Not "you" specifically - "you" in the general sense)
-
all women should be killed
-
Give men blue balls leave too then.

First they want to wear trousers and shit, now they want MENstrual leave?! Women should start thinking up their own shit instead of taking all our stuff

If equality is what women desire, then no, special leave time for a menstrual situation isn't valid.

Well said, sir.

These cramps were on another level. No color in my face, couldnt walk without vomiting, couldn't escape the pain.
I have gotten severe migraines, been hungover, etc. Nothing is on the same level. I'm a tough bitch, trust my evaluation.
That being said, a woman should just be able to use her sick days. Menstrual days just emphasize that a woman is a woman...no preferential treatment required.

I have had to take a sick day if my heavy day of my period fell on a working day. This was while I was working at a pt studio and I would be booked solidly for 3 hours with no break. I couldn't get to the ladies to change my tampon. I think that's one of the reasons why I went back to working at a gym because I could have access to the bathroom and didn't need to take a sickie.

Gross, I just vomited a bit inside my stomach.

I know reality is a bit of a shock to you but its what real women discuss.
Whores are the only women you interact with and they would never talk about menstrual cycles.

Well I am getting surgery to get my periods back to normal because It's heavier and I never been battling anemia.

I have never eaten that fish, asshole. Seriously you guys are lucky that you don't get periods and pms.

They would not survive. Most men cry for their mommy when they only have a bit of cold or upset tummy.

I don't mean to sound like Coach, but this brand of liberalism truly appears to be an illness.

wtf is that? I was never given any option that you describe. No my uterus is normal... Lining is normal and no growths are visible. I had a scan and trans vaginal scan the other day. I am getting biopsies because after 35 they check you for uterus cancer here in Aussie if you have heavy bleeding and nothing abnormal present. It should get it back to normal I am told. The doctor thinks I don't have it but it's better to be sure. Plus they will give me a curette which will lighten my flow.

Here in Europe, when your menstruation is too heavy and too painfull you could opt for this treatment. They place some electrodes up there and give some electro shocks. After that monthly bleeding should be much less.
Came across this while searching (during PMS ;D ) for hysterectomy...

Why should you get a paid sick day? 3-5 days per month 12 months/year?
Take the pill if it's that bad. I had to do a mock exam while recovering from pneumonia or I would have had to repeat the year because of required attendance levels. I could barely stay awake 3 hours/day or breathe but I sucked it up.

Not sure if it's the same thing but the doc mentioned heating up the lining...he said it's like microwaving it. I told him that was unnatural and there was no way I would give consent to this.
-
Yeah you should be able to call in sick just for being a woman
::)
-

It's not 3-5 days, mostly just one, sometimes two days. The day before and/or the first day of bleeding are the worst. And for most not even every month. If you're sick, you're sick. Some take a sick day for their PMS, some for their sport injury.
The pill is not that magical. In some women it can alleviate the pain, in some it doesn't. Didn't do much for me.
-

when you are changing your tampon hourly then it's best to call in sick. If I am working at a gym I can keep an eye on the time and quickly run to the ladies. But if you get held up then it's horrifying feeling blood running down your legs like a tap.
-

And the rift between now and the time I really wanted to get married grows wider.
You can keep an eye on the clock and run to the ladies' no matter what your job is, unless you're an astronaut.
-
It's a fact of female life, but men rarely want to hear ANYTHING about some chick's period. Just keep quiet, and if you must discuss it, do so with another female, please.

It leaves massive scope to be abused if it is a paid sick day. Once a month call up claiming "woman problems" whether you have bad pains/illness or not, take 1-3 days off and get paid, cry discrimination or some other bs if you get called out on it.
If women got equal pay and paid sick days, they are getting higher hourly wages for the less work. Equality ::)
-
I don't trust anything that bleeds for 5 days and doesn't die!

Dude we're saying just give us a normal amount of sick days.
Sheesh

Then the title is misleading. If it is 5 or 6 days a year, which is standard amount you're allowed in private sector here, fine, but if it is ever legislated as sick day and paid with a 20 or 30 day cap...

To clarify, bertha and I were arguing against these menstrual days off
Saying that a woman will just use normal sick days.
-
Here in the Netherlands we don't have a fixed amount of sick days, it is unlimited (well, up to 2 years). Granted, you get less payment after a few sick days. Payment and days vary per sector. Like only 70% payment if you are still sick after 2 days.
So, if you have a nasty flue and need to stay home for 2 weeks, you can do that. Your employer could send an agency over to check if you are really ill.

Plus there is a shower so that you can still receive chilidogs between "sessions."

Then guys should get hernia leave. I worked for almost a year with an umbillical hernia that made walking uncomfortable and standing up from a sitting position painful. And it wasn't a desk or sit down job either. You want to be equal, BE equal.

Had you had surgery to repair the hernia, you'd have been off on sick leave. BTW, women get hernias too.
-
I'd rather not have to menstruate just to get a day or two off from work.

Thank you. Just what teh bood and I meant; it's not a picknick.

Of course I've had surgery. No so got zero paid time off. Yes women get hernias ( much less but it's hard to pick an equivalent thing that guys get). By the way, guys get painful cramps - not menstrual if course, but you get the point. Equal is equal and fair is fair.

From my evaluation, only the week minded woman let a little PMS get to them. And, lets not forget the countless woman that reject to take the basic supplements that lessen the symptoms or just front and back load the calender days with Midol and get on with their lives.. and, allow others to live theirs normally.
It would be similar to having a hypoglycemic guy on your construction site that would regularly bitch out and drag ass claiming the symptoms are getting the best of him.. No one, on this planet, would tolerate him regularly calling in sick cause he's feeling headachy and his tummy hurts.
-

Had to look that one up, cause it's unknown over here. A regular painkiller is not gonna help. I have been on very heavy painkillers for years for something else, but the PMS was just as bad. Only thing that did help just a little bit was a low dose chemo (for the same something else); believe me that's NOT worth it.
BTW, what supplements are you talking about? Cause most doctors here don't take PMS that seriously, so don't expect them to give any advice to lessen the symptoms. ::)

zma?

Since a guy can't experience what a woman feels and a woman can't experience what a man feels, it is difficult to quantify what is fair or equal. One thing I've heard is that passing a kidney stone is a lot more painful for a guy then a gal. I've never passed one, but my wife has and she said it was more painful then childbirth; that's enough to convince me that I hope to heck I never get kidney stones.
Not all woman have the same experience with their menstrual cycles. My wife never complained about hers, so I am imagining it was not that difficult for her. On the other hand, my mom had a lot of trouble with hers. She'd bleed for so long that she'd become anemic. Her moods were often over-the-top. She was one who benefitted greatly when she had a hysterectomy.
When I had my hernia fixed, I was under doctor's orders not to engage in any physical activity for a week, which meant being off work. I was fortunate to work in a job that provided sick leave.
-

Thanks for not being offended. :) Borage oil, primrose oil, rhodiola, red clover, yes, even ZMA might help. But mainly primrose oil. Countless woman have told me it makes all the difference in the world.

PMS is very real. There's actually a name they give it where it is severe. It's hormonal and even though you can load up on B6, it doesn't really help. My breasts swell half a cup size during pms and I have difficulty sleeping because I have pain in my armpits. Painkillers don't help regarding a painful stomach. The worst part of it all is the mind....you feel sensitive and unsure, actually the opposite to when you are ovulating. Ovation is the best time of the month. It's probably similar to a man being on test. You feel confidant, sexually aggressive and full of energy.

I have posted plenty of times when I have pms. I am probably more suited to getbig that time of the month. :D When I am ovulating I get called a slut here by bird legs and bitter virgins.

Already taking that; my sleep has improved greatly, the PMS is just the same.

Not easily offended or shocked, or I would not be on GB. ;)
Will look for some primrose oil.

And terrible mood swings. One second I could cry my eyes out for spilling a drop of tea, the next second I could chew someones head off for just ringing the door bell.
