Title: Lacking motivation
Post by: Lustral on May 22, 2014, 04:56:00 PM
Lately I've lost my drive for training. I train 4-5 days/week but I'm not pumped on the way to gym and find myself yawning during workouts.

I've been using same split for a few months now (have changed exercises; shoulder is fucked) so that could be one element but I just don't feel the drive I used to get. Training doesn't feel like an obligation but I don't look forward to it like I normally do.

Any advice? I'm nearly over my shoulder injury, on holidays from 5th to 12th June so could use that as a reason to start new routine.

A nice cup of hemlock tea always does the trick.

I asked Romeo, said he can't source it.

I've gotten that way here recently too.

Been hitting the track at the park and putting in 3 or 4 miles a day just jogging.

Gonna try that for a couple weeks, maybe tighten up a bit then get back into it.

If I ran 4 miles they'd use my corpse in an ad for stopping smoking.

This might help. Give it time and watch the whole thing.

I keep a log book. My favorite thing to do 4x's a week is to head to the gym and make it my bitch. Me progressing on my deadlifts today means I can't wait till tomorrow when I can progress on my squats. Feels good man.

If I was to walk in the gym and just do whatever, my motivation would dwindle.

Define progress.

Because If you're telling me you get stronger every time you go to the gym.......

Take 1-2 months off from the gym.  Do some other type of physical activity--bike riding, hiking, swimming, basketball.

If you try and force it, it'll probably just make matters worse.  After some time off you'll feel fresh and be itching to hit the weights again.

Take a week off, works wonders for me. No way I could ever take off more than that.

I gotta say for a guy who gets cracked on for his ridiculous, blathering, unintelligible promos in the WWF, Warrior was actually pretty damn good talker.

Funny style of humor(whether he meant to or not), always made thought out interesting points and always brought a good level of energy and intensity.
