Title: Can anyone edit any Wikipedia article?

I always thought changes had to be approved, but I just tried making a couple minor changes to some articles and it worked right away. Are some articles locked for editing or can anyone change anything? I mean it seems like trolls would constantly be messing with certain pages like Obama's and stuff like that.

Yes you can, that's why Wikipedia rocks when it comes to everyday topics but sucks when looking for scientific information.

Some Wikipedia pages are restricted, & only a registered editor with a track record can edit it without a delay check. & there are a few pages likely to be sabotaged that are locked down & require approval for every edit.

Yes, at least that is the very core value of their work. No censor or manipulation catering to the ones with power.

The risk that it is inaccurate at times is "colleteral damage" for the greater good.

Not the "winners rewrite history" - type deal

Very pleasant thing to exist

I edited my old Uni's page to say there was a bronze statue of its most muscular student on the campus. Lasted a few months before someone noticed.

I had a buddy who did edit a page, but it somehow got changed back.
