Very good article about being "busy"...how many of you have bragged about being busy? Or have heard someone else brag about it?

What about pretending or saying that you are busy to make others think that you busy, therefore thinking that you are more busy than them, when you are possibly no more as busy or less than than busy than they are?
We fool ourselves into thinking that our "busy-ness" is more attractive than not being busy. But, maybe one should master the art of being busy without being busy. Aka, busy doing nothing.

Aha, you mean a good manager! The one that looks busy and accomplishes a lot, yet doesn't do anything more than tell a few people what to do and spend time on the internetz or daydreaming. 😊

I never hear anyone brag about being busy, they only complain about it.
-
People who brag about being busy only do it when they feel their work is not being appreciated the way it should. In any line of business, if you're reasonably successful at it, you will be extremely busy at certain moments. It seems to be the rule that problems will pile up at once and you have to have the ability to switch from slouch to full speed in a second while not crumbling under stress. Handling pressure is much more important than being "busy". If you're always busy, it just means you're not very good at getting regular work done.
-
Most people I meet do, guess it's an "I'm important" thing.
As you get to know these folks better the facade keeps crumbling more often than not.
Although no doubt that that there are some really busy and productive folks out there who never say a word about it.

Try to save time, be it cooking food, cleaning or training. Combine tasks and only cook foods that need little to no attention. That way the less busy you become.

be it cooking food
It do be.

It do be.

I always thought the point of telling people you are busy is to avoid doing favours for idiot mates

I always thought it was so you could guilt them into sucking your cock.

I mostly brag about being busy to get out of obligations. So if I seem busy all the time, I always have that excuse in my deck.
Except if I really AM busy, I tend to cut out all socialization....which just makes me even more stressed out. It's counterproductive.

but also it seems that humans possess this inert desire to show the others how important and how much of a success we are. Look at me "I am so important and needed that I don't have time for anything else". "My job needs me, look at how much work they are giving me".
I read somewhere that on their death bed no human has ever complained about not work more. Find a hobby that brings some level of joy and do it as often as you can without hurting yourself and your family life.

I have an odd working day.
I usually wake about 7am when it's time for the wife to get the kids up to go to school... my office is a 5 second walk from my bedroom and that is where I go first. First order of the day is answering emails from people in the US and the early Aussies. Then checking on any sales that may have occurred when I slept.
Then I clock off at midnight or 1am.
But in between there's a lot of work AND fucking about, gym, bike rides, runs, naps, massages, playing with the kids and fucking about on teh interweb.
This thread is food for thought - 'cause a lot of the time I am "busy", I'm just fucking around and R&Ring at my desk.
I think there's a danger in fucking about at your place of work 'cause you spend too much time there when you should be doing other stuff.
And fuck me, if it isn't 1:11am and I'm on Getbig and I'll be telling the wife in the AM not to turn the air con off 'cause I 'worked' late last night and need a lie in....

Could be that making oneself seem "busy" to others is to feed their own ego...their own self importance. Because they may not want to admit that they are not as needed (busy) as they want others to believe.
-
Don't confuse being busy with being active.
-
Haven't had time to read a single fucking post from this thread. I'll be back when I retire. My fucking schedule is insane. I guess that's the price of being the boss.
-
I'm so busy, i'm running five gimmicks at once. Price of living the dream on getbig..
Come on, no one posting daily on getbig is really a busy or active person. People here know how to avoid labor and other people
That article is about instagramoholics and career people.. It only served to make lazy people good about being more lazy ;)

I was unemployed for a while for first time in life. Made a point of saying I was busy soon as I got a job (then two) after. You feel like such a shit bag when you're unemployed (if you have any dignity) that you will use any chance to let people know you aren't a sponge and want to work. Didn't bitch about it, I've worked hard my whole life, moreso having to turn down social invites etc.
