Right ive read it with my own eyes, in a Tyson book called the release of power it mentions how in prison he hit the weights hard and got upto benching 500lbs! This despite going down to 190-200lbs in bodyweight in his first jail stint. :o
-
Absolutely false
-
i know hes strong but 500 at 190, id have to see a video to believe that
-
NO WAY Iron Mike pressed 5 bills, not at 200 lbs. or ever, he was a genetic freak no doubt, but 500 is ELITE, ALL UNIVERSE CLASS, he didn't train enough for it when he was younger, he was focused on boxing
A 500 bench takes years of training even with great genetics
405 is out of reach for almost everyone - but 500 ?
COULD he have done it if he trained for it - maybe
-
Obviously BS - as are most lifting claims.
-
I heard he did 525.
-
Another book said he did 500 press ups a day, they like the number 500.

Not to mention the 500 whores a day :D
-
I've seen a video of mike, a vid I'm searching for a while now, where he repped 3 plates for a bunch of reps easy... 405+ should be fairly easy for him. with help from the spotter, the 500 could have happened.

and 500 lines a day!

Most I've ever seen claimed by legitimate sources for Tyson is high #300's(training camps during his prime, etc....) I'd believe a touch and go with #405 from a beefed up prison Tyson, but nowhere near #500. The jump is way too large. Lennox Lewis claimed his best was #380 at #240.
-
Yeh but Lennox had thoselong arms,Tyson had short arms perfect for powerlifting. Is nt there some Dutch boxer who claims a 675lb bench/!> ::)

There is a world of difference between repping 315
And benching 500LB once.
-
I benched 1000lbs.
Now you've read it with your own eyes. Just don't ask for pics, video or any proof pls.

It's doable. There was a vid of rapper B. Pumper @190-195 doing one rep with 500.

Shit goes down on 8/6/14

nope, he was 220 there

B. Pumper said he was under 200. He doesn't look 220.

i don't see it as such a stretch, tyson was a beast with explosive power. I've seen skinny guys in the gym tossing around weights they shouldn't be able to handle just by the look of them
-
and in reality he was probably helped by the spotter. which might not be truly 500 but only getbiggers care.
-
::) Not even close

he looks 220 easily, he might have been just hyped up saying he was 200, ..in an interview I read, he said he was 220lb doing 500lb

Naw, he is 5'8...when he's standing next to slighter taller dudes, he is outweighed. He maybe 200. 220 is doubtful. Shawn Ray was really 5'6 at 205 and looked like a tank. Same with Dex. Flex was 216 at the 93 Arnold, and this dude not even peeled looks about the same size for years.
That was 2010, he probably is bigger now and doing 220. And then again he could be lying to say he was bigger. He said 195. So, I will give him 200, with the jewelry added on.
And at 220, I would seriously question his natty claims (one of the few that don't brag about it all the time).

OK maybe you are right, although I did read 220. Don't forget you look smaller when you are not shredded on camera. The dude is not shredded and your comparison to Ray is Ray being shredded

Nevertheless it was an impressive lift, because he doesn't look like he could 500 for a single rep. Now, one wonders what he could do if he really was serious about competitive raw benching.
Points taken.

I'd have to weigh the plates and watch him do it to believe that.

he looks like he would smash some national records easily.
