I know it may not sound like a big deal to some of you, but I have been working towards it for quite a while now. I am not a "hardcore" lifter per say...3 kids, 60 hour workweek, wife....You get the point...
I did 14 reps with 225 on decline barbell and then did 1 rep with 300 on flat. Yeah Baby!!

300 bench isn't too bad for a newbie.
-

Congrats! Keep pounding away! 400lbs is just around the corner ;)
-
yeah good job man! keep it up!

Congrats on achieving your milestone. A 300 lbs. bench is very respectable.

Damn, 300 is only respectable ???
So what's good then? :P
BTW my bench sucks bigtime, top is 374 . It just ain't my excersise. I think it's something psychological.
Preferr dumbells, but the heaviest are only 228 combined, so that ain't really a challenge

Great accomplishment!!! I still remember the first time with 300 myself.
Keep it up and go for 315! it is right around the corner for you now.

Good Job.. Took me a few years before I hit 300.. then again im 5'4" 150lbs.

Congrats bro, keep it up. Pretty soon you'll be doing it for reps.

Joining the 300 Club is quite an accomplishment and you certainly are paying your dues with the 60hr work thing, 3 kids & The Wife. Might be surprise at how many experienced BB'ers haven't reached that weight, though they'll tell you different. I'll offer a little tip here: Might do a couple of sets of partial rep lockouts (3"-6" to top position....probably use at least 80 to hundred lbs over that 300 BP) before a regular bench workout and than see what you can press. Good Luck.

JPM, how should one incorporate partial lockouts into thier routine? Right now I bench once a week, alternating b/w flat and incline. 80 pound increase to the 1-rep max sounds like a lot to start though...

i think he meant that when you do the lockouts you will use 80 pounds over your normal weight.

Yeah, I thought about doing some partials as well. I did do some heavy negatives with the Smith machine the other day. The problem I have with benching is my long ass arms...I see these short dudes that can bench more, but they are only dropping the weight 10"!!!

Congrats. 300 felt SWEET the first time I did it. 8)

Congratulations! 300 marks the beginning of being a serious lifter (I know b/c that's my last max and since then I've been busting my ass). Keep it up, man.

Hey congratulations man! I guess its pretty sad that I was all excited over my first time at 205....but then I weighed 170 at the time but still pretty pathetic.
