Title: Self employed in London ?
Post by: Frank Clairmonte on July 08, 2014, 05:33:24 PM
I am seriously thinking about moving my ass to London, buying delivery car, take one buddy with me and do many kinds of work mainly around houses, move furniture from place a to place b, gardening, clearing properties from garbage ....... Living in caravan to keep expenses low.

I am not scared of work thats it, question is if I put my all into it  will I find clients? UK getbiggers can help me in decision making.

I am 23 yo.

It may be different for you since you are from the Continent.

I know that for Yanks it can be very hard to get a job in Britain.  It almost has to be that you are working for a company and have the job lined up before you make the move.  Canadians have it easier because they are in the Commonwealth.

By the way. Your English is very good.  Much better than what I can do with a second language.

Hi Frank,

Should be no problem for you to move to London and do that and if it doesn't work out you can easily find some work, probably as a delivery driver. A few of my Romanian friends just moved here since they became part of the EU, within a few weeks they had half decent jobs.

There are many of your compatriots living all over the UK and seem to be doing fairly well.

I am interested to know is the economy getting any better in countries like Czech and Slovakia? I done quite a bit of traveling around Central and Eastern Europe, I like these parts of Europe, still seems like there are many people leaving these countries for the UK, I presume it is still only for the money as it seems like quality of life and culture is still better in these countries.

Not a Fucking chance, Londoners especially want to see a professional doing work they pay good money for, that Mexican shit doesn't work here, even window cleaners have to look professional here.  Plus, we hate broken English foreigners.

Ignore this dickhead trolling you.

If you are courteous, clean and professional as most Czechs are then you can get a lot of work if you are good at general handywork, know how to talk to people and hustle a bit.

Hodne stesti!

Do it. It will be a good life experience for  23 year old. If it doesn't work out you can always head back home.
But don't expect to become a millionaire..

if you're prepared to work hard and have reasonable social skills should be able to do OK. get a van though not a car will give you far more options on what stuff you can do.

I would say that economy is getting better overall, however still a lot of work has to be done. Corruption is probably the biggest hindrance of improvement as you move more east on the map of europe. Some people are doing very very well but many are still living in relative poverty.
